Starting with Matthew's POV of course ^^

I awoke to sound of my mother yelling at me from downstairs, like usual. But it had been awhile since I heard her yell at me to get up. Summer just recently ended and boy oh boy was it boring. It was one of those things where my mom planned like 57 things to do for the summer but everything we tried something went wrong.

Camping trip? Nah fam it's pouring rain for the entire week. What's that? You wanna go to the amusement park? Ha ha, not a chance. Lets make an accident happen so all the rides are closed for the day. (Okay, that one isn't exactly a problem comparable to bad weather, but still.) You want to go to the park to have fun with your friends? Nope, a random shooting will happen at that exact same place. I mean, after that, my mom didn't let me go out anywhere really, at least on my own. There were a bunch of other attempts, but like I said they failed. Think I turned into an introvert in only one mont-

"If you don't get up and get down here for breakfast right this instant, your gonna be the only one at school with a sore behind!" I heard my mom yell from downstairs.

Yikes. I'd better get out of bed and get dressed fast. I hopped out of bed and made it then went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and washed the sleep out of face. I glanced in the mirror for a second. Not the worst thing in the world but everyone thinks so. Sighsu. I quickly used the bathroom then went back to my room to change. Luckily or unluckily, my school has a uniform so I didn't have to think long on what I was gonna wear. I dressed, put on my best shoes, brushed my short wavy hair, and went downstairs.

First thing I was greeted by was the smell. The oh so wonderful smell of Mom's delicious pancakes. I went to the dining room table and sat down and watched Mom work wonders in the kitchen. This was also her first day at work, a really nice cooking corporation. My mom had always been a really good chief, and she said it ran through the family. So I was really glad she got the job. That's why we moved after all. She was wearing her business casual with nice slick black shoes. She was so caught up in her wonderful cooking she only just noticed me sitting there admiring her. She glanced me briefly between cooking.

"So champ, ready for your first day? If I didn't wake you up you would of been late to it."

"Heh yeah, sorry about that. I think I'm ready for it." I tried to hide my nervousness. Dang I'm already feeling nervous? I haven't even left the house yet!

"I did tell you to go to bed early last night. Anyways there's no need to be nervous, I'm confident you'll be fine. Just remember that everyone is as nervous as you."

How could she tell I was nervous? She wasn't even fully concentrating on me. God she's good at multitasking. Maybe that's why she's such a good chief...

Anyways, I tried my best to listen to her words and get rid of my nervousness.

"Yeah Mom your right. I'll be just fine. Are you nervous?"

I wonder if my Mom gets nervous. She's also so calm, cool, and collected all the time, even in the most stressful of situations. To my surprise she actually wiped away some sweat and turned off the stove. Looks like breakfast is ready. She put the pancakes in two plates and put some syrup on them and put one plate in front of me and put the other at her seat and sat down. Finally she sighed and looked at me.

"Yes actually. I am quite nervous. I know you and our neighbors praised my cooking and whatnot, but I'm not too sure my bosses and colleagues will as well." She took her fork and ate a bit. I did the same and thought about what she said. I never thought that my mom would be second guessing herself like this. Well she always makes me feel better with her words, so it's time to return the favor.

"Don't worry Mom. I know they will all love your cooking. Just remember, they're people just like us. So I'm sure that they will enjoy your cooking just like we do. Just be as confident as you can." It's funny that I told her to be confident, since that's one thing I can never be. Mom looked at me and smiled.

"Thanks MattMat (her nickname for me.) I'll make the best dishes I can for them so I can start off on a good note." She looked at her watch and looked shocked. "Better hurry and eat, we need to leave in 5 minutes."
