Niall wrapped his arms around her and rocked her, and himself, back and forth until he felt her body finally relax. Once they had both calmed down, he began looking around him. It had been a long night and the sun was coming through the curtains.
Without saying a word, he let go of her and got up off the floor. He went to her bed and pulled back the covers before returning to her and awkwardly picking her up. She held onto him so tightly it hurt but he didn't care. She wasn't pushing him away. He placed her into her bed, tucked her in and kissed her forehead before he headed to the couch.
"Niall." He stopped and turned around. She raised her hand out for him, "Please stay."
He thought about it for a moment but realized he really didn't want to sleep on a couch and he really didn't want to be alone. Running his hand through his air, he shuffled back to her bed as she lifted the covers. He slowly climbed in and laid down next to her. Her bed wasn't huge, but he tried not to touch her, not wanting her to tense up again. He need not have worried. As soon as he was in, she threw the covers over them both leaving her arm across his chest, burying her face in his arm. He moved his arm to wrap around her shoulders. He felt her squeeze him lightly before he felt her body relax next to his. He let out a breath he had been holding and relaxed himself, closing his eyes, he turned to her again and kissed her forehead as he ran his fingers through her hair.
And there they both laid, for the first time since their lives changed, in the only kind of peace they knew how to find.
