    It was Varensis.

The White Cloaked Kin stood several feet before them and he stood there calmly without a care in the world. Even Kane stuttered words out. Clyde couldn’t help but to gaze at the glowing figure. What was he doing here? Did he come back for Anya?

And then, right on cue, dozens of Kin began to appear. When they saw who their opponent was, they all became somewhat stiff.

“Kane,” Clyde whispered. “W-what’s going on?”

“This is it, kid,” the man breathed. “After this, I will explain everything once and for all… If we survive out of this mess, then there won’t be any more secrets kept from you.”

As he spoke, Kin continued popping up until there were around seventy or eighty.

These must be his other Kin, Clyde thought to himself in wonder.

“This won’t be necessary,” Varensis announced in his calm and cool voice. “I’m here for the boy and the girl. I’m not in the mood to fight today.”

Again? So now Varensis wanted Clyde too?

“You’ve made a grave mistake coming here, Varensis,” Kane cried back. “Today will be your last day alive.”

“Fascinating,” said Varensis, “you said that last time as well.” He sighed and without warning he took out his blade and he threw it overhead. It immediately multiplied into over a hundred more and each blade pierced a Kin in the chest. Each one that was hit fell to the ground. The remaining Kin all charged at Varensis (Kane ordered Ignatious to stay back) and he held his palm out at the incoming army. It was almost as if an explosion burst out of his hand and all the Kin that had charged fell down also.

“He’s too strong,” Kane admitted. “Even when he’s holding back…”

Clyde felt his body turn fiery all over again. This wasn’t fair… Why was everyone after him? Because of this Rage thing that he supposedly controlled?

Just then, an enormous tidal wave appeared and it hung in position. “Give me the boy and the girl,” Varensis threatened, “or I will sink Endnark entirely.”

There was a growl from behind them. “If you had left me to my work,” Krone breathed, “I could have contained him. Now, it looks like we will all die.”

Clyde felt his hands and eyes burn painfully. His entire body began to shake madly. He hated everything… He wasn’t going to allow this anymore… He wasn’t going to run this time… But all he could do for now was stare at Varensis with as much hatred as possible. For some reason, he felt that it was entirely his fault that this mess was occurring right now.

He was about to make his thoughts known when he was suddenly cut off by Kane.

“There’s only one option we have right now,” he said aloud. There was a brief silence in which Kane gazed, almost sadly, at the crystal in his hand. He shut his eye and said, “I can’t believe that it’s come to this…”

Varensis watched patiently as Kane walked over to Clyde.

“Here,” said the man, handing the thing to the boy. “If you’re truly the one that has the power to control this – then show us. You’re our only hope…”
