"Do you think it's possible? Can you ever love someone too much?
Because I love him.
I love him more than most people could ever love a person. I love him so much that my heart aches.
So did I? Did I love him too much?"

Delilah Carter was in love with Stanley Barber.
She had been since the second grade when she had her first panic attack on the playground and Stanley gently handed her a small daisy he had picked up off the ground before softly singing the words to Hey There Delilah until she had calmed down.
It was that day with tear stains on her face and Stanley's kind smile being sent in her direction as he tucked the flower behind her ear before sitting next to her for the rest of recess that Delilah first became infatuated with the boy.
Stanley and Delilah weren't friends by any means which is probably what had surprised Delilah the most about his kindness, but since that day in the playground, she was never able to get Stanley off of her mind.
Being the sister of the most popular girl in school meant that Delilah and Stanley didn't hang out in the same crowd much to the girl's dismay. However, that didn't stop her from liking the boy that everyone had deemed weird and strange.
She didn't find him any of those things and would continually correct the others when they said such things, insisting that he was just "unique" as her lips curled up into a soft smile, a dazed look dawning her face as she silently admired Stanley from afar.
No one seemed to notice her love for the boy which Delilah was happy about, so the girl just kept to herself, deciding to admire Stanley from afar instead. For he was everything to her, even when he was treated like nothing.
But one faithful afternoon would lead the two to stumble into each other's lives, instantly sparking a fire that neither of them would know how to extinguish.
Delilah just hoped she wouldn't get burned in the end.
