In Front of the Court

Qui stood in a large red and yellow lit room in front of a large throne and three figures next to it.
She bowed before the throne, which hosted a large white scaled dragon born with a silver crown and purple robes covering his muscular figure. The crown had a large piece of paraiba tourmaline in the center with small rubies around it.
"Rise, Lady Qui." She rose before the king. He...just looked so powerful. He smiled at her with sharp teeth and witty, sparkling jade green eyes. The figures around him smiled at her gently. All but one.
"Tell us about yourself, Royal Bard Qui."
"Well....I'm an elf." One of the smiling figures snorted quietly. They were probably a female half elf.
"Also, I've always wanted to become your royal bard, your highness, and I would love the chance to show you that I can do it." She said nervously.
"If you're so ready to prove yourself, show us now!" He said, smiling. She pulled out her violin, got her rosin out and on her bow, and took a terrified breath. She could mess up, be kicked out for wasting time, or killed.
She put her heart and soul into a violin cover of Senbonzakura, which that half elf sung to quietly.
After her performance, everybody but that one non-smiling figure applauded her.
"Well done! I knew you were worthy!" He turned to the half elf. "Arthkika, would you lead Qui to her room please?"
"Yes sir! Follow me, Lady Qui!" She put her fiddle away and followed quickly. They passed the silent, smaller figure who wore a black masquerade mask and had pale grey skin. She shivered. He just creeped her out.
"Here is your room!" Qui gasped. It was huge. There was a large bed, two big closets, a desk, and a bedside dresser. An intercom was attached near the door and a speaker was on the roof.
"Oh my goodness!"
"Yeah, this place is big."
"I get to live here....by myself?"
"Yes!" Qui set her bag on her bed and put the violin near it. "Any questions for me before I leave?"
"Oh, yeah! What are you?"
"Uh...a half-elf?"
"I mean, like a bard or something."
"You're the bard, silly!" She giggled. "I'm the Royal Treasurer!"
"Of gold and things?"
"Not just that. I treasure information, gold, armor, and most everything!"
"Even magic?"
"Well.....no."
"Then who does the magic?"
"That's Whispers thing."
"Whisper?"
"Sure! There's Whisper, Zamista, you, and me, Arthkika, here to help the king!"
"What does Zamista and Whisper do?"
"Zamista is that figure in the back you saw."
"The masked one?"
"No, that's Whisper."
"Ok."
"Zamista is a genius!
"...details?"
"He's very smart for a tabaxi. That cat man is an excellent thinker and rogue, and that's why he's a great royal adviser and spy."
"Zamista sounds cool!"
"Yeah, he's really cool."
"What about Whisper?"
"Oh, him?" The two sat on the bed together and spoke like young children. "He's kinda...weird."
"He's the mask wearer, right?"
"Yeah. He's the court magic keeper and jester."
"Odd combo."
"Yeah. He always wears that mask."
"Oh ok, I was worried that there was a dress code or something." Arthkika laughed.
"No, no, of course not! He's just...special." She was about to add more when a voice came over the speaker.
"Royal Treasurer to the courtroom, Arthkika to the courtroom." It was the king.
"Gotta go! Get comfortable and we'll see you in the morning for first shift!"
"What time?"
"7:35!"
"See ya!"
That night the five of them ate dinner at the royal table. Qui sat across from Whisper, who ate slowly and not very much. She only saw him eat a small piece of chicken and a banana.
Qui devoured most of a ham and a milkshake.
"Lady Qui, what a big appetite you have!" The king said, smiling. She blushed.
"I don't think we've been properly introduced." Zamista said. He sat on her left. "I'm Zamista." He offered her a light blond fluffy hand, which she accepted.
"I'm Qui."
"I like your dark purple hair." She smiled and fixed her ponytail.
"Thanks."
"Anytime. If you ever need anything, feel free to ask."
"I will, thank you."
"Anytime!" The cat man laughed. Whisper looked unimpressed. He excused himself and got up. Qui watched the suit wearing figure leave, black coattails flying behind him.
"Have a good nights sleep tonight, everyone!" The king rose and left. The other three did the same and went to their rooms. It was a long day for Qui, so she went upstairs to bed, playing a little bit of the Avengers theme before sleeping.
