Zamista sat on his bed, Qui and Arthkika sat on the floor, and Whisper stood.
"I personally don't believe in this bonding thing." Whisper said bluntly. "But the king said to."
"Yeah." Arth nodded. "Well, as you all know, I'm Arthkika, you can call me Arth or Kika. I'm a half elf, I'm seventeen, I like chocolate, I have dark brown hair, I'm rumored to be gay..." Zamista cleared his throat.
"I'll go next." Arth gave him a look. He smiled. "Hi. I'm Zamista, and you can call me Mista or Zammy. I'm a tabaxi, which is a cat person. I'm twenty, and I'm the royal advisor and spy for King Mizerach. Hmm...what else....ooh! I like cake." Arthkika snorted. "I'm not gay, I have two older brothers, my mom died when we were kittens. Any questions?"
"Yes," Qui started. "What happened to your mom?" The cloak wearing cat man smiled sadly, his bright amber eyes twinkling.
"When she was giving birth to me, I messed up her innards somehow in the process. She died two days later of organ failure."
"Sorry for your loss."
"It's fine." Silence.
"Well, I guess I'll go?" With no objections, the newest member began. "Hi, I'm Qui. I'm sixteen, an only child that lives with my dad, and a lover of pineapples. My mom died when I was two to a huge cancerous brain tumor. I'm the royal bard to the king." They all nodded to that.
"Sorry for your loss." The cat man said.
"Anybody have pets at home?" Arth asked.
"I do! It's a snake." Zamista replied, pulling out his phone and smiling. He showed them a picture of a large pale blue and white python. "This is Slithers."
"Interesting name." Whisper said sarcastically.
"Says the person who's named Whisper." He nodded his head simply. "Your turn."
"Fine." The jester sighed, crossing his legs into a seated position. The two stared at him. Apparently he had never told them anything.
"I'm Whisper, longest server to the king. I am the court jester and magic keeper. I...uhh...what do you want to know?"
"Family, age, history, stuff like that!"
"Well," He was clearly tender at the family thing. "I had a sister that was a year younger than me, but as we all know, she died." He got to his feet. "This is dumb. I told you some info. I trust you. Goodbye." He left the room and went to his own after shutting the door.
"Well, he's whiny." Zammy said simply. They smirked. The three of them got along nicely together, Qui realised, and liked them a lot. She had grabbed her computer and showed them pictures of her dad. The half elf with the creamy skin laughed with them at jokes. The hazel furred tabaxi shared chocolate chips.
It was just that jester dude. What a weirdo.
In the middle of Zamista telling a story about how his snake went after his middle brother's pet mouse, Giovanni opened the door.
"Royal court members?"
"Yes?"
"Zamista."
"Yes, second in command?"
"Barbaka is your brother?"
"Yes? He's the eldest. What about him?" He got his feet, and his friends followed suit.
"He's..he's..."
"He's what, Giovanni?" The 7 foot tall rogue got close to the 5 foot 8 guard, who stood his ground.
"He's one of the diseased."
"What? Move! I need to see Barbaka!"
"You can't! Nobody is allowed down there, they could be contaminated!" His words were ignored as the big man forced his way past him and down the hallway, the same way Whisper stormed off earlier that day. The girls could do nothing but chase him down and ask him to stop to no avail. They arrived to a large laboratory with people in cots everywhere. The scientist from earlier was talking to the king.
"Where's my brother?" They stood next to them.
"Zamista. Go back upstairs. The same goes to you two." The king said sternly, facing them. Dr Nola ran off to tell other scientists around the room new instructions.
"No! Where's my brother?" Qui gasped quietly. Did Zamista just tell the king...no?
"As you would advise me, I'll advise you. Go back to your rooms before somebody gets infected."
"Please! Just let me see Barbaka!"
"Brother..." A weak voice muttered from a nearby cot. "Is...that you?"
"Barbaka!" He turned and ran for the cot. The other two followed him to see a large, caramel colored cat man with bright orange eyes. "Barbar, are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'll live." He wheezed. He didn't look so bad. No physical wounds. That was good.
"I'm here for you. Remember that." The two touched hands before the court members were forced from the room. They went upstairs and sat in their rooms. Qui went downstairs, grabbed a sandwich from the kitchen, ate it, and went to sleep no have terrible dreams of everybody getting infected and dying.
