Something to Fear

The fated wish upon a star

the turning of a world;

the single tear you shed that night--

a fright, a fright,

that sleeper to be awakened.

The second to last was a petal to fall

the first breath was your last;

your life before my eyes so fast,

I whispered to you

another me, myself, and I began to laugh.

The mirror was so smooth, so round

a shame it was to break,

but it cried a lovely sound and I--

no, you--

we cleansed the faces deep inside

and your skin began to burn.

What is happening; that I know

That you are strong as I am strong,

and so is the power to burn, to turn,

to learn another me or you

Inside out to Outside In,

the night consumed another day

the sharp eyes of the dark could watch;

could listen;

to you and I, our serenade.

Strong my song and yours too weak

and somewhat far too long;

midnight's knives were stark and clean;

clipped the halo of the world.

But you and I sat back to back,

your spine emerging mine;

the silent moon that beamed approval--

the stars would be a line behind,

the spectators of a rebirth.

Whose blood I lust for, I do not know,

the deep red chill a standing flow;

the moon flashed crimson--

the scarlet stared--

as I faded I caressed your ear...

Are you scared, my dear?~
