"Lia.. We need to have a word with you." Lia's dad spoke.
"Yes, dad?" lia asked in confusion once the three were alone. "i see you met your binnie again.." he started which earned a couple nods from lia. "yeah!" she said cheerfully. but soon, her smile turned into a frown, "but dad.. how come you never told me about him?" she asked.
"i..." her dad trailed off. lia's mom sighed and walked in front of lia, "soobin's father. he.. he caused this." she said. "we didn't tell you because you might be hurt that your best friend's father ruined half your childhood." she continued.
lia gasped in surprise, "he.. what?" she exclaimed. her mother nodded, "yeah. i know. it's kinda hard to believe but surprise." she chuckled bitterly. "soobin's dad was an alcoholic. he is never in the right state of mind." mr. choi continued.
"that's ok, mom, dad." lia smiled. the two parents perked up and looked at their daughter in confusion. "what do you mean 'that's okay', honey?" mrs choi asked. "the past is the past. and besides, it isn't soobin's fault that i was in a coma. it was his dad." she smiled.
"but i'm alright now, see? let's leave the past at that, and never bring this topic up again." lia stated. the two parents looked at each other before looking at their daughter. "so.." her dad started "you and soobin, huh?"
"dad!!!"

"whoa.. what..? i'm so sorry, jisu-ya.." soobin apologized when lia told him. lia chuckled, "it's okay. why spend your time resenting someone when you have better things to do?" she said reassuringly.
sighing, soobin explained, "my dad's an alcoholic and a gambler. our family was bankrupt because of him.. my mother had enough and left him, taking me with her. now i have a step dad." Soobin stated.
nodding in understanding but also kind of shocked, lia asked, "so all this time, you don't know where your real dad is? you cut connections with him?"
soobin nodded, "yeah. but as you said, the past is the past. don't worry about him." the boy giggled. "i'm glad you didn't hate me when you found out my dad caused your accident." soobin sighed. smiling, lia sat in front of the boy and looked at him, "of course. it wasn't your fault to begin with anyway." she smiled.
"thank you. thank you, really" soobin said, taking lia's hands in his. the two sat there in comfortable silence before they went with the flow and leaned in.
capturing each other's lips in a kiss.
