~~~~SARA'S POV~~~~
"Althazar, please hurry." I whispered into the small black button, clenched between my trembling fingers.
Things on Earth had taken a turn for the worst. Our island was sinking. At first I blamed it on the tide. But as the water level crept closer and closer, month by month, eventually engulfing our hut, I knew something was wrong.
Storms whipped through, showering us in rain and slapping us with wind in what seemed like a never ending assault. Today was no exception.
Our make-shift shelter on the highest part of our shrinking island did almost nothing to protect me from the elements. Consequently, Braden was out gathering materials to improve it. He told me everything would be okay. I never told him I had the button. This morning, as a last resort, I made the call and pressed it. Now I feared the button was broken. It had been hours and Althazar still wasn't here.
