Forest of Skin

I had to write this for English and ended up liking it oops

A walk in the forest should only be peace

sunbeams through the leaves and there's a cool breeze

a nice little view of natures masterpiece

among large healthy beautiful clusters of trees

but one ahead is unlike the others

Inside a clearing, It's still quite tall

The bark is peeled, it's all on the ground

"come closer" it almost seems to call

The sad tree has bugs all around

and as you approach, the tree whispers

Look at my skin, look at my friends

Look at their skin and what's happened to them

A cold wind blows as you turn to look

The same fate, you did not see before

how could one miss this gobbledygook?

Can anyone stand to see this site??

But the path continues to tempt

Only a little down the line

all around they begin to appear

some bark is peeling but, it's birch it's fine!

A lovers carved initials that say "I love you, dear"

But, could that be all?

Leaves brown and dying

a bent trunk from a storm

One blocked from sunlight can be heard crying

another one is a little too warm

and so it goes on

Burned from fire, natures Gettysburg

A half-dead tree from a lumberjack's unfinished work

How could one miss this destruction- Wumph

The tree falls

Look at my skin

the scars in these layers

yeah, a tree fell but

who

really

cares?
