Jungmin sighed as he stared out at the free world from his window. For the first time since he moved into this house, he regretted living on the third floor. He looked down at the ground and felt his knees go week at the height.

‘,’ he thinks to himself. Had he been on the second floor, he would have jumped out a long time ago.

He was phoneless, laptop-less and hopeless. He was sure that for the rest of his long life, he was going to be trapped in his room, away from society, civilization, friends and most importantly, his Hyunseong. The mere thought made him want to throw up. He couldn’t imagine a world without Hyunseong when Hyunseong was there with him all his life. His heart was shattered and he felt his will to live on break. Jungmin resorted to taking refuge under his covers and hide himself away from the world without Hyunseong. He was set on dying there, alone and cold.

The sound of his door getting unlocked echoed through the room and Jungmin knew exactly who it was. The thought of having to see Junghyun repelled Jungmin so he decided to just stay where he was. Junghyun had voiced that he was disgusted by Jungmin. There was nothing more for Jungmin to do. He had lost his love and now his brother. There really was no point in living on.

“Food, make sure you eat. I have a meeting today, so I won’t be back till later tonight. I’ll buy take out.” Immediately after Junghyun spoke, his phone rang.

“Ah, yes, I’ll be right there.”

And then he was gone.

Jungmin stayed still, waiting for the small sound of the house door closing before he got up and trudged his way over to his meal. Kimchi fried rice. Jungmin absolutely loved his brother’s kimchi friend rice. It was like a treat whenever his brother made it in the past, but now, he had no appetite for it. He looked at the door and notices that it wasn’t completely closed.

Junghyun had failed to close it completely in his rush to get to his meeting. Yes! Chance!

Jungmin immediately took the chance and ran for it. He got to the front door in record time, slipped on his shoes and was running down the street in a matter of seconds. Hyunseong’s house was quite far, but he needed to get there. He needed to see Hyunseong and make sure that it wasn’t the end for them. Hope came back to him and though slim, he wanted to hang on tight to that string of hope.

He took a short cut and turned into a part. It amazed him how fast he was running. The world around him moved in blurs and each step he took seemed to ring in his ears. His heart was constricting in pain, but he didn’t want to stop. He couldn’t stop. The park’s end was coming into view and he was only a few steps away. And then the world around him seemed to turn, his vision now on the ground’s pavement.

It took him a few moments to realize that he had tripped and fallen on his face. His heart is beating out of his chest and he doesn’t even feel the pain on his now scratched forehead because his knees chest was hurting so much that it brought him to tears.

“Omo, are you okay?” He looked up to see a girl squatting down at him with a look of genuine worry.

Jungmin was too tired to answer. He was taking in deep deep breaths, trying to cool his body down. He suddenly felt tired. Oh so tired. He hadn’t eaten and now he was overexerting himself. He doesn’t feel it when it was lifted and walked over to a bench where he was seated and immediately handed a water bottle.

He gulped the water down faster a sink can drain all the water. The girl from earlier held out a piece of bread for Jungmin to take and he does just that. He consumed the bread slowly because it was bread and breads were generally dry.
