Kira was quite proud of herself. She had avoided looking at the men's swinging baby arms for hours. Rokan had disappeared to go hunting, leaving her with Ni'ev and Kyros.

After begging Vrox, Kyros managed to borrow her for a few more minutes. He grilled her about Earth's technology, seeming to be more interested in its resources than its people. It took her five minutes to explain to him that a car was not an animal, but a cluster of metal that ran on fuel. He called it witchcraft.

Ni'ev hadn't asked her anything. He just listened and tended to his sword, sharpening it some more.

"But how could you talk to a person through a box?" Kyros frowned, unable to understand the concept of cellphones. "You have tiny people inside boxes that talk to you, and you can also talk to a person through a box? Your people are obsessed with boxes, Kira."

She chuckled. "I thought we covered that a television isn't a box full of tiny people?"

"I am convinced that your people enslave others and keep them in boxes to entertain the masses."

She threw her head back and laughed. He grinned, only dropping his expression when he got a look at Vrox.

"Vrox?"

She turned to look behind her and gasped when she found Vrox's box only a foot from her face.

She diverted her gaze.

Where is Rokan with those loincloths?

"What?" Vrox threw at Kyros.

"You are holding your chest. Are you in pain?"

Vrox dropped his hand, frowning down at it. Kira's laughter had set his heart off again, and he had instinctively clutched his chest to shush its inner war. It seemed like the medicine hadn't worked after all.

"I must speak with you."

Kyros stood up, making Kira flinch again when she got a blink of his dick. She was getting tired of getting flashed by these aliens.

"What is wrong?" Kyros asked.

Vrox looked over his shoulder, checking that Kira was far away.

"I must entrust you with something."

Kyros nodded, urging him on.

Vrox stepped forward and placed both of his hands on his brother's shoulders. Kyros tensed, knowing that physical contact between them was rare. Whatever Vrox was about to deliver was serious.

"I am dying, brother."

Despair crippled Kyros' darker face. There was no blood between them, but he would spill his own to protect Vrox.

"Nonsense."

"It is true. My heart will fail me soon. I am ill."

"Ill with what?" Kyros demanded. "You know more about medicine than all of us combined. Surely, you know how to cure this."

Vrox shook his head solemnly, his yellow eyes disappearing behind his fallen lids.

"We must prepare for the worst. I need you to swear that you will protect Kira when I leave this world."

"No!" Kyros snarled. "What is it? Tell me, and I will find you a healer."

Vrox moved his palm to his chest, scratching the area over his heart. "My heart feels like it will explode. I only get like this when I am fighting. But lately, whenever I think of Kira or look at her–"

An obnoxious laugh exploded out of Kyros.

"My death is amusing to you?" Vrox demanded.

"You silly boy," Kyros shook his head, earning himself a snarl from Vrox.

"I am no boy. Do not disrespect me, Kyros. I can still take you down even with a failing heart."

"Your heart is not failing," Kyros shook his head. "It is talking."

"Talking?"

"Yes. If it races when you look at the female, it is because your body is telling you that it wants her."

"Everyone in this camp wants her, but I do not see any of you clutching your chests."

Kyros shrugged. "I do not love Kira. I love her body, yes–"

The rest of his sentence was dismissed by a growl that grabbed Kira's attention.

"I mean..." Kyros began to correct himself. "I do not love her. What you are feeling is love. I was only a boy when The Vanishing happened, so I never took a wife, but there was a beautiful girl in my tribe that always set my heart off. I promise to you that neither your heart or cock is dying."

Vrox sighed with relief. He knew nearly all there was to know about plants, but nothing about females.

"Does Kira..." he looked behind Kyros' shoulder. "Does Kira feel the same as I do? Does her heart race too?"

With a grin, Kyros offered, "would you like me to touch her breast to check?"

Vrox gave him a shove, pushing another chuckle out of him.

"I do not know how she feels, but I remember seeing older males gifting things to females to make their hearts tremble."

"Gifts like what?" Vrox encouraged.

"Flowers."

"Flowers? Surely, you mean seeds that the females could plant?"

Kyros shook his head. "No. Flowers you have de-rooted."

Vrox scratched the back of his head, seeking logic. "But there is no benefit to a dead flower. They wilter in a day or two."

Kyros shrugged. "It is the truth. I saw it myself."

"I suppose I could get Kira the purple flower of the Vilam Mountain. It is very poisonous and lasts a month without wildering. Kira would be happy to own something so rare."

"I do not know. The purple flower of the Vilam Mountain is hideous."

"It is not pleasing to the eye," Vrox agreed. "But it is a luxury that only the powerful can posses. It is better than a simple flower that will wilder overnight."

Kyros nodded. "You are right."

"What else did males gift females?"

"Furs and meat."

"That makes more sense than dead flowers. How many times do I have to give her these things until her chest quakes like mine?"

Kyros squinted at the distance, doing calculations. "I do not remember. Maybe until she asks you to stop?"

"Thank you for sharing this."

"Also, our women cared a lot about preserving their beauty. I heard that semen was healthy for the hair and skin. Perhaps you should give Kira a bottle of yours so that she could wash with it."

"That is a great idea," Vrox agreed.

With a nod, Kyros returned to Kyra's side to ask her more questions about the magical boxes they have on Earth.

Vrox looked around the camp, searching for a bottle.

I must get her semen, dead flowers, fur, and meat.

He repeated the list, not wanting to forget Kyros' wise teachings.
