He remained silent.
"Can you say something?"
Her hands were becoming clammier by the minute.
"You wish to mate?" Vrox finally offered.
"Well, yeah."
"To unite our bodies?"
"Yes."
"You wish for me to put my child in you?"
How many times was he going to re-phrase sexual intercourse? Was this his way of rejecting her?
She removed his hand from her stomach.
"Kira?"
She stared at the darkness sadly. "It took me a lot of courage to ask you that. Your hesitancy is hurting me."
"Hesitancy?" he repeated, the word heavy on his tongue. "This is not hesitancy, female. This is disbelief. This is doubt. There are millions upon millions of worthy Ezronian males, but you have chosen to gift me with the chance of fatherhood."
His sweetness was so unrefined that it overwhelmed her senses. Tears battled her waterline and won the battle.
Hearing her sniffle, he brought his lips to her cheeks. "Why this eye-water? Have I insulted you?"
She shook her head. "No. I'm happy. You make me happy."
He brought his lips to her own and tried to convey his gratitude by providing the silk of his tongue.
"Will we do this, then? Will you honor me by taking my seed?"
She shifted uncomfortably. "You make it sound like it's a big deal. I'm not doing much. I'm just lying on my back, and..."
"No!" he boomed, taking her off guard. "Do not do this. Do not put yourself down. You are precious, Kira. You are the short, fluffy warrior that will save us from extinction."
"Fluffy?" she mumbled, too embarrassed to address the rest of his words.
His palm fell on her breast, and his other hand scooped under her to cup one of her buttocks.
"Yes." He squeezed. "You are my fluffy little warrior."
She squirmed under his hold. "I..."
He nipped her lips before bringing his nose to hers and giving her an eskimo kiss.
"You are my fierce little thing."
"Damn, just put your kid in me already," she begged as if it was humans that were about to go extinct.
Her hands clutched onto his massive shoulders, wishing those mountains were between her thighs instead of hovering over her.
"No," Vrox rasped. "Not like this."
She just about combusted with frustration.
"What do you mean?"
"I do not wish to share my heir's conception with anyone. I do not want my brothers to hear our happiness."
Why did his absurdly possessive demand make her gush between her legs?
He started to make his way off the bed.
"Where are you going?"
"I shall return soon."
She heard his heavy footsteps, followed by a constant chirping as Vee woke up. Once Vrox stepped outside, his footsteps became fainter.
