No on dared to look him in the eye. The inferiors lined the halls, their head low and their hands shaking, clasped in front of them. He marched past the quivering lab workers, watching the nervous sweat drop down their faces, too scared to move and wipe it off. They left and his experiments escaped. They knew they fucked up and they knew they were going to pay the price for it.
They were useless. A waste of his time and money. If they would have just found a way to mass kill the stupid beasts when he asked, they wouldn't in this mess, but no. They wanted to use his money to find a cure, to help them the humane way. Fuck the humane way. This costed him billions and now they have the stupid mongrels looking to rip him apart.
He slammed the door open, taking note of the gaping whole in the wall. The man in the room looked up, stopping his erratic typing on the computer, eyes wide. "You said that if you oversaw this facility, it would be successful, Christopher."
"I-I know, sir." He wouldn't make eyes contact. He answered to the big man, the one funding the operation. He was just the guy in charge of lab, a job given to him by the big boss, who had charged his office.
"You let me down." He said, adjusting his cuff while the man at the computer pulled at his collar. "I expect you to know how to fix it, Christopher. Your mistakes just lost me billions."
"Sir, with all due respect, I don't know how to fix this. All I did here was tell these people what to do."
"And that's where you forget your authority, Christopher." He said as he walked around the desk, watching the footage of his experiments escaping. "I am the one who gave you your job. I am the one that instructs you what to do. I told you I wanted a weapon, so you go and let these little lab rats tell you that they want to make a cure? And you let them. That was mistake number one."
"If I may sir, this can still be used at the weapon you want. It still had the ability to kill them if you use them in high doses."
"Okay then." He help up his hands and then pointed one at him. "I'll give you that. It's still lethal. But what makes you think these lab rats will let me take their supposed 'humane work'," he air quoted, "and turn it into a biological weapon to mass wipe out a race that most people doesn't even know exist? All these scientists were unharmed by these creatures. They could have easily attacked them while they were still here but they didn't, they waited for them to leave. How would it sound if all of them stood up and said that these beasts meant no harm and harmed no one when I start killing them off?"
"I understand sir, but I still don't know the solution to any of this." He said, slamming his fist on the keyboard, ending the footage that went on repeat.
"Well, what if the beasts did come in and savagely kill everyone in here."
"But sir, they didn't. They weren't even here when they attacked."
"Didn't you hear the news, Christopher. All the workers were either mauled by the beasts or were killed then they released our deadly viruses and diseases." He said as he got off he desk, walking towards the hole in the wall.
"But sir, you- you can't do that."
"Oh, I can do whatever I want, need I remind you? I just don't need witnesses that will go against my word. Do you understand that Chistpher? How do you think your wife will react when she hears you were actually making a biological weapons against werewolves and then was mauled to death when she thinks you are working on cure for cancer?"
The man watched with a glint in his eye as the man cowered beneath his words, gulping down his fears. "I-I understand sir."
"So what's it going to be, Christopher. Do you live or do you die."
"I-I," he signed and placed his head down, hanging his neck and his shoulders slumped with defeat. "I live, sir."
"Excellent choice." He said, strolling over to the door. "Now, what you are going to do is tell all these people to get back to work. They will work overtime to reprint and rewrite reports. You will wait until it's dark and release the viruses. I will be expecting you at my headquarters Monday morning. We will be discussing some urgent matters."
