It was late in the evening; an internal debate brewed inside himself when he and his father finished fixing up his house. His mind rationalized whist his heart longed. He knew his mother was incapable of harming his mate, it was against her nature as a faerie, an extreme empath that had the need to heal the wounded, not harm. Besides, it was late and he knew she'd be asleep and would be safe for the night, yet, he was still beside himself. His heart, the bond calling out to him, eventually won. He was unable to be parted from his mate any longer. The overwhelming urge to ensure her safety cause him to trudge though the thick snow after his father.

"I knew you couldn't stay away for too long." His mother greeted the pair at the door as they pulled off their outer layers. His father kissed his mother before excusing himself to take a shower.

"She okay?"He asked as he rubbed his cheek against hers in greeting. He felt her smile against his skin before she pulled away.

"She is fine. She ate well, bathed and asleep in you old room. I checked on her a little bit ago."

"Ευχαριστώ." He thanked her for looking after her while he was busy and went to go check on her though his mother stopped him by grasping his arm.

"She'll be fine for a few more minutes." She was quick to reason with him when he gave her a look. "I know you haven't eaten and I would like to talk to you about something."

Reluctantly, he grabbed a plate and prepared himself a meal, his mother grabbing a snack to nibbling on for his sake. He ate quickly, knowing his mate was a few feet away made him feel that much farther from her.

"I think it is time for you to explain to her what mates are. What she is to you." His mother finally broke the silence as he cleaned off his dish in the sink. He sighed heavily, watching the drain, leaving the iridescent  bubbles on the surface, reflecting the light in multiple shades of colors.

"I no want to scare her. It all new to her." His mother gently pushed him to the side, taking his spot in front of the sink, grabbing a rag as she went to dry off the dished.

"I think she is scared. Not of you or herself but where her place is here. She is scared because she doesn't understand." She placed the items back where they belonged before turning to her son, resting her hand on his cheeks. He leaned into her palms, closing his eyes as his chest emitting a short and quiet rumble, enjoying the affection he was receiving from his mother. She rubbed his stubbled cheeks as he opened his eyes, a pair of eyes that resembled hers so much. "I told her you were mates but I am afraid that she is now questioning your motives." He wanted as her eyes turned sorrowful. "I heard her crying in the bathroom. I felt her sadness and her confusion. She's only known one thing her entire life and now it has changed. She does not know what is right or what is truth. She needs to know your true intentions, otherwise, it will continue to cause her inner-turmoil."

"I talk to her tomorrow." He agreed, glancing down the hall that led to the stairs, the path to his mate.

"Go." She squeezed his cheeks playfully before dropping her hands. "I know how much you want to." Placing a kiss on her forehead, he bid her goodnight before giving into the invisible pull that had him taking large strides. He knew by heart the areas on the stairs that wouldn't creak and groan as he placed his weight on them, along with the floor boards that led him to his childhood bedroom.

The room was bare, exactly how he left it years prior. He was never one to grow attached to materialistic things when he was younger, keeping only the necessities in his room. Though, when he shifted, he came to appreciate items more; ones that would make his home more welcoming and cozy, subconsciously preparing for the mate he didn't know was coming.

Quietly closing the door behind him, he finally got a glimpse of something else he has gown an attachment to.

She had made herself comfortable on his bed, the covered pull all the way to tuck under her chin, encasing the warmth inside. The moonlight, which peeked though the half-closed curtains, illuminated her face in a silver light, the stars that decorated her skin glowing back at the goddess.

Unable to resist, he approached the side of the bed she was curled up on, he reached out to caress her cheek bone, tracing over the freckles that decorated her skin, the freckles that he adored so dearly. Smiling as she stirred closer to him, he contained to stroke her skin, tucking her hair behind her ear so he could see her face better. She shifted once more, the blanket sliding down to reveal her exposed shoulder. Wanting to to keep her warm, he adjusted the blanket, pulling it back up and securing it by tucking it around her.

Not wanting to leave quit yet, satisfied and comforted watching her peacefully rest, he sat down near her his, sinking into the mattress slowly so she didn't shift too much. Allured by the pleased smell coming from her hair, he couldn't resist running his fingers though the locks that were sprawled on his pillow. The strands resembled silk as they glided though his fingers, mesmerizing him.

Letting out a small, satisfied him, Thaelia peered her eyes open, glancing up at him and smiling as he continued playing with her hair. Eyes still heavy with sleep, she looked into his for a few moments before closing them against, rubbing her cheek into the pillow as she did so.

"You have such beautiful eyes." She murmured before succumbing to sleep once more.
