Cheryl's POV
"We're here honey." I looked up from my hands, looking out of the window at this big, dark manor, no neighbors for miles, not that I care.Mom stepped out of the car as the four moving trucks pulled up on the driveway, waving at them politely before going to speak with them about where everything were going inside.
While I just stayed in the car, just staring at the big wooden door in front of me, pondering on if I should go check it out or not.
But I decided I would, immediately opening my car door, stepping out with my backpack in my hands, walking towards the door, grabbing the key from where the seller said it would be. And I walked inside, immediately greeted by the smell of soap and firewood, as if the house was cleaned by the inch just before we arrived. And the firewood was a nice touch.
I left the door open for my mom and everyone else, so that they could get in and out of the house without a struggle.
And instead of exploring the bottom floor, I walked up the stairs to the second floor, just to look around at the floorplan, and to find a room for myself.
But as I passed by the many rooms down the left hallway, I couldn't find a room that called on me, until I opened the last door down the hall to the right of me.
It didn't call on me exactly, but the layout of the big room screamed Jason, he would've loved this room, and I know that if he had still been here today, he would've picked this exact room without a doubt.
So I decided to pick the room right across from this one, because somehow it made me feel closer to JJ again.
And to be honest, the room wasn't that bad. It has an open walk-in closet and an on suite to the left of the room, which is good, because I need space.
But what caught my interest the most about the room was the bay window. Which immediately checks of a place to sit when I draw or read, from my checklist.
I quickly grab my sketchbook out of my black leather backpack, going to sit in the window just to draw when my mom walks in.
"So, I see you found a room you like." she said, smiling happily towards me before looking around my new room, currently empty, but we're going to put our bedrooms and the kitchen together firstly, so it won't be empty for long.
"Yeah, I actually chose it because the room across from this one.. Jason would've loved that room." I admit, smiling sadly down at the portrait of him in my sketchbook before closing it.
"I know that it's hard honey, but I promise you that this move will be good for you. For the both of us even. It's a good town, people are very nice around here. At least it was when I was younger." I chuckle at my moms rambling, not able to stop myself.
"So what you're saying is that, people might be nice around here?" I ask, teasingly smirking towards her, and she immediately just slumped down besides me before playfully pushing me with her shoulder.
"You don't always have to be such a smart-ass honey." she laughed, immediately making me feel a bit better.
My mom is the only person that I need in my life.. Well, at least now after that Jason's gone.
"What are drawing?" she asks, making me a little nervous, because I really don't want her to know about most of the things I draw or write in my sketchbook.. It would only make her suffer even more.
"Uhm, I, I'm finishing up a sketch of JJ." I admit, and she immediately looks at me expectantly, which means that I have no other choice than to show her..
