Chapter 3. Battle

(Midoriya's POV)

We walked out onto the field, I forgot how popular we were thanks to the league of villains attack. The whole crowd was cheering.

The stadium was huge and I knew because I was the first one to walk out. I was the first one done with changing first, I don't know why though.

We all got into the area where the announcements would be announced. They were long and most of the kids didn't look like they were paying attention.

I kept scanning the first-year students for some reason and my eyes kept being drawn back to Todoroki and his emotionless face. Has something happened to make him like this, or is he just been that way since he was a child.

For the representative of the year, Kacchan was chosen,"I just wanted to say, I'm going to beat all of you." Kacchan sounded calmer than normal but still in his ton of anger. When he said this Todoroki's expression changed, I could tell he was angered by Kacchan's statement.

Mrs. Midnight explained all the parts of what we were doing, apparently we had to participate in an obstacle course. There were no rules, as long as you stayed inside the designated area.

As we linger near the starting line, Todoroki looks like he wants to just go and get the course over with. I think is positive that he will win, but me on the other hand, I'm not sure I'll make it without using my quirk, I still have very little control over it.

(Todoroki's POV)

I line up ahead of most of the class, only a few student are in front of me, Momo, Kirishima, Ayoma, and Bakugo. I am sure I can win this, if I just put a wall of ice over the starting are, not may people could follow me. (And please tell me how to spell Ayoma, I can't spell to save my life!)

Present mic interrupts the eager crowd,"ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET, GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" I start to freeze the walls so I could get past these people, and as expected the people that are ahead are all class 1-A students.

(Midoriya's POV)

When Present mic signals us to start, I'm being pulled with the crowd. The space was very small for around 300 people. If my calculations are correct, one students with high intelligence and speed quirks are ahead of the rest. Anyone like me would still be caught up in this mess.

I try to start moving forward but I slip on ice, I try to get up but I keep getting knocked down. Eventually I just give up until I have room to get back in my feet.

Finally I get up and start to run, I catch up with the rest of the kids, they must've been tired from getting out of the mess before. Then out of nowhere the giant zero point robots from the entrance exam start to block our path.

I can see todoroki freeze it with his ice. By the way he iced it, I could tell he wasn't just going for an offensive attack. The robot was off balance and it could've fallen any second,"Everyone, get out of the way! The robot's going to fall!"

Everyone backed up. Except two people, Kirishima and someone else, I don't know him. With Kirishima's quirk he would be fine. I was mostly worried about the other kid.

I look over to the rubble of ice and Kirishima emerges, and on the other side the other kid does the same. He must've had a defensive quirk.

The rest of the kids started running to catch up with Todoroki, and I joined them too. I ran into a robot and didn't know what to do. I ran.

While is was running I saw parts of robots laying around, I grab the one that looks most like a shield and keep running.

(Todoroki's POV)

The robot move slowed the rest of the group down, but not entirely. I made it to the zip line/tightropes and I decided to use my ice even though it might help the other participants.

I see everyone behind me after I get to the other side.

Present mic explains that the little holes in the ground contain bombs that would explode if you touched them. I was encountered with a choice, use my ice to make a path, but that would help my enemy, or be like a normal person and walk across it. I chose the second one.

I hear someone screaming, and little explosions, must be Bakugo.  He's catching up.

Once he catches up to me we both are trying to get ahead of each other. We were around ten meters from the finish line,"BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" I look back to she what it is and, someone made a chain reaction with the bombs.

I see Midoriya flying on something that looks like part of the robot. I should've known he would pull something off this. It is Midoriya. He finally catches up to us and I don't think he worked out the landing. I hear Bakugo scream something at him, probably a death threat knowing him.

Midoriya takes the part and slams it on the ground and runs. We never kept track of how far from the finish line we were and he passes it with out a second glance back.

(Midoriya's POV)

Once I pass the finish line everyone is cheering for me. I could only think of two things, my mom's reaction and that I didn't even use my quirk.

Once everyone finished only 45 students moved on to the next round. Most of not everyone from class A passed.

Mrs. Midnight explained the rules of the next game, it would be a Calvary Battle. Like a chicken fight but more complex. She explained the point ranges and what made me more worried was the amount of points I was worth,"The first place spot will have 100000000 points, that means the people at the top will suffer more"
