I feel like a clown
Dancing in the circus
With a bright, cheery song
And my big shoes onIt's all for the joy
Of those little kids
But it used to be
All for meTheres too much makeup
With big silly costumes
And too many lights,
It gives me stage frightWhen I take off the facade
To see the underneath
My heart begins to pound
And with it theres a warning soundFor what I see
Under the surface
Is painful and hideous
Even more than the circusWhen I look at myself
And the mask that I know
The red, shiny nose
That is all for the showTo make others laugh,
Put a smile on their faces,
I'll force myself down
And resurface as that clown
