16) Not Now

Back to the grind, I guess. It was more that I was back to being Unji and avoiding EXO at work. I guess it could be said that having a few know my true gender was good and they could help me a bit, but with Luhan it was different. He somehow didn't notice that I'm Unji!

I mean, honestly, if he knows I'm a girl and he's really smart, how could he not realize that Unji and I are the same person! It's only Unji, boy Jihyun, and girl Jihyun. They're all me! Like, what the heck! But since he didn't know, I wasn't going to tell him. It should be easy enough but I guess his sense of logic is off right now or something.

"Hey! It's Unji!" I could hear Jongdae's voice from down the hall and my heart rate kicked up.

"Oh, annyoung sunbae," I said when he suddenly appeared by my side. He stopped me and started holding a phone up.

"Do you mind if I compare you to a picture of my friend? You remember Jihyun, right? Not that you two ever met, but Sehun has a picture of him from before Sehun became a member of EXO and he looks more like a girl than usual in this so we wanted to compare it," he spoke his reasons really fast.

"Aniyo, I don't have the time," I shook my head quickly. I know exactly what picture he's talking about because that is Sehun's phone.

"It won't take long though! Just really quick?" he gave me puppy dog eyes. I would have melted right then and there but I didn't want to be found out just yet. My time with them was quickly coming to an end and school was going to start for me soon, so I'd like to move out on the same day I tell them.

"Aniyo. Miahnhae, I have to go now," I turned away quickly and speed walked away. I could hear the rest of the boys catch up to him and they all started talking and laughing loudly.

I got to the studio with a few minutes to spare so I took my time going around and greeting everyone. The time left on this project is coming to an end soon too, what with their being only four more dresses and whatnot.

"Yo, you just barely made it out of that earlier," Baekhyun said when he came in to my dressing room a little later.

"I know. But it's almost time anyway."

"Maybe you can convince everyone to let you stay with us. You don't have to go. It would suck without you," he frowned.

"It would suck to leave too, but I'm not sure how they'll react to the news. Nearly everything they know about me is a lie, Baekhyun. I'm already bearing the truth to that on my own. If I add everyone's hatred because I told them early and they don't accept me, it'll be worse than everyone's disappointment and anger."

"But-"

"Ani. I don't want to take the risk."

"...Fine. Then I won't question your decision," he nodded and walked out. Sumi sighed behind me.

"This must be hard for everyone who knows your secret too."

"I know. But it's probably easier the way I'm going now than taking a risk and having them never trust me again. I'm not fully prepared for leaving them yet either, so it could make things tense."

"I understand it. It's hard to bare on your own though, why can't you rely on those around you a bit more. Baekhyun clearly wants to help you. I know he wouldn't normally just back down like that."

"...I know that too. I'm trying my best but I don't know what to do about it. Thinking about this whole thing just hurts."

"Why don't you pretend to be a boy forever then?"

"I can't stay with them forever though! That's crazy!"

"Yeah. They'd also get suspicious if you didn't have a girlfriend or get married. If you fell in love, that would ruin the whole thing too."

"But I'm already in love."

"Wah?" she screeched. "With who? I demand to know right now!"

"Sehun, you didn't know?"

"How could I?"

"I guess I'm fine then. If you didn't know, I'm just a really good actress."

"Yeah, what are you doing modeling when you've got that kind of talent?" she laughed. She turned my chair around so I could see myself in the mirror. "Talk to Baekhyun about it a little more. But don't shoot him down so quickly. It's risky, but he may have a good plan."

"I will. Gamsa, unni," I hugged her and she rubbed circles into my back.

"Anytime, dongsaeng." We left the room together and the shoot started quickly. Through the whole thing, I couldn't take my mind off of leaving EXO soon.

Even when Baekhyun and I had to get really close, almost to the point of kissing, I didn't get flustered like I normally did. I was just that into my thoughts. Thankfully I didn't zone out, or else I would have ruined the shoot.
