I have to admit I'm really nervous to go to school. I mean, new people, teachers, me having to control my temper, can't spend extra time with my sis. Those are things that I am not use to. It was also Via's first day too.
Up until a few days ago, we weren't even sure my brother and I weren't even sure that we were even going to a school. Mom and dad had different thoughts about it.
Beecher Prep was only a few blocks away from our school so I asked mom if I could walk. She kept on asking me if I was sure. I like to walk alone. It gives me time to clear my head. And I just like the peace and quiet. I know all the ins and outs of my neighborhood. So I know the places that kids hang out and don't hang out.
"Are you sure you want to walk?" Mom asked me. I nodded my head and I start walking to school.
As I was at least a block away from school I noticed no one was around. It was just me and trees. Well, until I heard a voice shouting my name. "Nora! Nora! Wait up!" As I turned around I saw Jack. I waved at him. "Hey. How are you doing?" He asked. I shrugged. "Why don't you talk a lot?" Again, I shrugged. "You should talk more. You have a beautiful voice." He complimented. I blushed.
We walked in silence for a moment until Jack asked. "Are you exited for school?" I shook my head. I'm not in the mood to talk right now. I just want to be alone. "Why not?" I looked down. I guess he knew what it meant. "Oh." He said quietly. "It will be okay."
As we walked he kept asking me questions but I just nodded or shrugged. Soon enough we arrived at school and I saw Auggie, mom, dad, and Via. I hurried over to them. "Hey." I said with a smile. "Hey sis! Ready for your first day of school?" Via asked. I shrugged. "You know me, Via," she laughed. "Yes. Yes I do." She hugged me tightly. "Protect your brother." She whispered in my ear. I nodded. She let go of the hug. "I packed a few special things in your backpack." Via said. I raised my eyebrow and she laughed.
As I heard the bell ring we were all saying our goodbyes. "Love you Nora." Mom and dad said. I waved at them and they left.
"Ready?" I asked my bro. Auggie nodded. And we headed inside.
