A few hours later, Claire woke up. "Dad?" She said.
"Hey." Steve said. "How are you feeling?"
"Tired." Claire said. "What happened?"
"A certain word I said caused you to have a violent reaction." Steve answered.
"Is that why I'm restrained?" Claire asked.
"Yeah." Steve said.
"How long have I been out?"
"A couple hours." Steve said.
Claire thought of something. "Earlier, you said you were going to take me home." She said. "You want me around and to take care of me?"
"Why wouldn't I?" Steve asked.
"You just found out about me and just met me." Claire said.
"Claire, you're my daughter." Steve said. "Of course I'm going to take care of you."
Claire nodded. "I'm sorry I tried to attack you."
"It's ok, Claire." Steve said. "I'm going to get a doctor." Claire nodded before Steve walked out of the room.
Claire was let out of the hospital a little bit later.
"Ready to go?" Steve asked. Claire nodded. "Come on. Let's go get something to eat."
The two of them walked out of the the hospital and over to a cafe. When they sat down, Claire ordered a burger with fries. When she got her food, she started to wolf it down. "Slow down there." Steve said, chuckling.
"I've been asleep for fifty years." Claire said.
"Fair point." Steve said. "If you want, after we're done eating, we can get you some clothes."
"Ok." Claire said.
Once they finished eating, they headed outside. They walked around until they came to a clothing store. "Can I get clothes like the ones I'm wearing?" Claire asked.
"Yeah. We can find some." Steve said.
"Can I help you two find anything?" A woman asked.
"Yes." Steve said. "My daughter likes to wear clothes from the 1950s. Do you any of those clothes here?"
"We don't have those types of clothes here." The woman said. "But there is a store down the street that sells fashions from other decades."
"Thank you." Steve said. He and Claire walked out of the store and headed down the street. They looked into a store that had 1920s fashion in the, so they guessed this was the store. They went inside. Claire went over to a section that had 1950s clothes. She picked some clothes out and grabbed a pair of shoes.
"Ready to check out?" Steve asked.
"Yeah." Claire said. They went to pay for the clothes out
"Do you want to go over to headquarters and meet Director Fury?" Steve asked as they walked out of the store.
"Sure." Claire said. They walked down another street and walked into a huge building, going into the room.
"Hello Steve." An African American man greeted them. Claire noticed that he had an eye patch over his left eye.
"Hey Nick." Steve said. The guy looked at Claire.
"You must be Claire." He said. "It's good to see you awake. I'm Nick Fury
"It's nice to meet you, sir." Claire said as she shook his hand. "Welcome to SHIELD." Nick said.
The switch went off in Claire's head, and once again became violent. She started screaming, but before she could attack anyone, Steve had restrained her arms behind her back. "Let me go!" Claire screamed.
"Claire, calm down. It's ok." Steve said in a calming voice. "You're ok."
"Is she ok?" Nick asked.
"There were a couple incidents at the hospital where she became violent when she heard that word." Steve explained. "They had to sedate and restrain her. So, try not to say it front of her."
"Why did she become violent?" Nick asked.
"I'm not sure." Steve said. "It could be something that Hydra did to her." Claire continued to try to get out of her father's grasp. "Claire relax." Steve said in a attempt to calm her down. Claire blinked a few times. She saw her father holding her hands.
"Did I freak out again?" She asked.
"Yeah, but it's ok." Steve said, letting go of her hands
Four other people came into the room. "These are some of the agents." Nick said. "This is Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, Maria Hill, and Phil Coulson."
"It's nice to meet you all." Claire said.
"It's nice to meet you too, Claire." They all said.
"I have some business to attend to." Steve said to Claire. "Why don't you take a look around."
Claire nodded and headed out of the room. She looked around the building for a little bit. She looked at pictures of former agents. She stopped when she got to a woman with short brown hair. Claire thought that she looked very much like her, but she didn't recognize the woman. She looked for a name plate, but didn't find one before her father called her.
"Hey." Steve said, coming down the hallway. "Ready to go?"
"Yeah." Claire said as she walked over to him.
"Come on. Let's go home." Steve said. Claire nodded. They walked out of the building and headed towards the apartment building. "Are you ok?" Steve asked, once they got into his apartment.
"Why do I keep having freak outs where I want to attack people?" Claire asked. She had a couple tears running down her cheek.
"I think Hydra did something to you that caused you to do that." Steve said. "It's not your fault. You can't control it. We just have to avoid saying that word around you." Claire nodded. "Why don't you go up to bed." Steve said. Claire nodded. Steve showed her where the empty bedroom was and Claire got ready for bed.
