A couple days went by. Claire woke up and got out of bed. Since her procedure, Steve had wanted her to sleep in his room with him, but Claire had refused. She was too scared that she was going to hurt him.
Claire walked out of her room and headed to the lounge. Natasha was there.
"Morning Claire." Natasha greeted. "What are you doing up so early?"
"Hard time sleeping." Claire replied.
"Are you hungry?" Natasha asked. "I was going to make chocolate chip pancakes."
"Sounds good." Claire answered.
"Want to help?" Natasha asked.
"Sure." Claire said.
While they were making breakfast, Steve walked into the room. "Good morning, Nat. Claire."
"Morning Steve." Natasha said.
"How are you doing today, Claire?" Steve asked.
"Ok." Claire asked, avoiding looking at him. She may not want to kill him anymore, but every time Claire looked at him, she felt guilty for what she did.
"Claire, can you look at me, please?" Steve asked. Claire looked up at her father with tears in her eyes. "Claire, please don't get upset." Steve said. Claire just nodded, while wiping the tears from her eyes.
"What's going on?" Bruce asked, coming into the kitchen.
"Nothing. Claire just got a little upset." Natasha said. "Breakfast is ready." The four of them sat at the table and started to eat.
"Claire, I think you should go back to school." Steve said.
"Yeah, cause that went so well the first time." Claire said.
"Claire, you need some normalcy in your life." Steve said.
"Whatever." Claire said as she put her dish in the sink.
"What do you say we do something today." Steve suggested to Claire. "Just the two us."
"I'm good." Claire said.
"I wish you wouldn't avoid me." Steve said.
"You should avoid me." Claire said.
"You are not to blame for anything of this." Steve said.
"Yes, I am." Claire said, getting upset.
"Nothing that happened is your fault." Steve said.
"It is my fault." Claire said. "I attacked you and tried to kill you multiple times. And I almost did it by strangling you."
"And I'm completely fine." Steve said. Claire stormed to her room.
A few moments later, there was a knock on her door. "Claire, can I come in?" She heard her father ask.
"Yeah." Claire said.
When Steve walked into the room, Claire couldn't hold the tears back and started sobbing. Steve rushed over to her. "Hey, it's ok." He said, pulling her into him.
"I tried to hurt you." Claire said. "I almost killed you. And I feel terrible about it."
"Shh. It's going to be ok." Steve said, comforting her. "You're ok, now." He continued to comfort Claire and calm her down. "Look. If you don't want to do anything today, that's fine." Steve said. "I just figured it could get your mind off things."
"No, it's fine." Claire said. "I'm good with that."
"Are you sure?" Steve asked.
Claire nodded. "Let me just get dressed and I'll be ready." She said.
"I love you so much, baby girl." Steve said.
"I love you, too." Claire side.
Steve kissed Claire on the side of the head before going out of her room. Claire changed out of her pajamas.
After she finished getting ready, Claire came back into the lounge.
"Ready to go?" Steve asked.
"Yeah." Claire said.
"Here, put these on." Steve said as he handed her sunglasses.
"Why?" Claire asked.
"Please." Steve said. Claire put the sunglasses on.
"Bye guys." Natasha said.
"Have fun." Bruce added. Steve and Claire walked out of the Avengers tower.
"Why don't we take my motorcycle." Steve said. Claire nodded. She got on the bike behind her father and put her helmet on.
"So, where are we going?" Claire asked.
"You'll see." Steve answered before revving up the motorcycle. They took off down the road.
After a while, they came to a small house. Steve stopped a little down from the house.
"Where are we?" Claire asked.
"This is where I lived growing up." Steve replied.
"Can I hear what your life was like before you took the serum?" Claire asked.
Steve gave his daughter a small smile. "I was born July 4th, 1918." He started. Claire snickered. "What?" Steve asked.
"You were born on 4th of July and your superhero name is Captain America." Claire said, continuing to laugh.
"Funny." Steve said. "Do you want to hear my story or not?"
"Sorry." Claire said.
"My father died during World War I, before I was born. My mother raised me on her own." Steve continued. "She died in 1936 when I was 18."
"Can I ask how?" Claire asked.
"She was a nurse and was working in a tuberculosis ward. She caught it and died from it." Steve explained.
"I'm sorry, Dad." Claire said.
"Thank you, sweetheart." Steve said. "Once I graduated high school, I attended an art school. After that, there's not much to tell."
"I used to draw a lot when I was younger." Claire said. "Mom always said I got that you."
"You probably did." Steve said, with a chuckle. He looked back at the house for a moment.
"Do you want to see where Mom and I lived?" Claire asked.
"Is it close?" Steve asked.
"It's here in Brooklyn." Claire said. They both stood up and got on the motorcycle. Claire her dad directions to the address.
