Ethan picked up the keys from his room and went back downstairs where Lucas was waiting for him. "Do we need to stop by your house to get anything or are you ready to go?"

Lucas thought about it for a few moments and then answered, "Yeah, we need to stop by my house. I don't have my stuff with me."

For a moment Ethan thought about offering to lend him some clothes, but it didn't seem too difficult for Lucas to drive back home, so he didn't. Plus, he didn't want to spend another half an hour or so waiting for Lucas to pick what he wanted to take.

Outside, Ethan saw Hamilton's car parked in the driveway and he was genuinely surprised that someone his age could have such a nice car. It wasn't the sort of car a millionaire or a billionaire drove, but for Ethan's standards, it was more than nice.

Lucas seemed to notice Ethan staring at the car, so he shrugged. "My birthday gift. My dad tried to make up for some shit he did, so he decided to buy it for me."

It was silent for a few moments as Ethan didn't know how to answer that, so Lucas just added, "I caught him cheating on my mom but I still told her. She didn't leave him though, and I don't think she ever will. So to make me forget about it, they got me this car!"

Ethan knew Lucas' dad was a dick, but he didn't know just how much of one he really was.

"I'm sorry about that."

"Don't be sorry, you're not the one who cheated on my mom," Hamilton laughed and then immediately stopped in his tracks. "Oh, and please don't make a joke about sleeping with my mom. I'm just beginning to stand you again."

The second comment brought a grin to Ethan's face and he shook his head. "I wasn't going to."

They got into the black car and inside, it was a little smaller than it looked from the outside. But still, a car's a car, and Ethan sure wouldn't mind having one like this.

Lucas started the engine and turned on the radio, making some uninspired hit immediately spread through the car. He groaned and pointed to Ethan's side. "There's a bunch of CDs down there, you can pick any of them and put it on."

Ethan was a little surprised that Lucas was the type of person to have CDs and not just connect his phone to the car and play music from there, but it seemed in character enough for him. Even when they were younger, Lucas was into music, so this just seemed like an evolution of that.

He looked around the pretty weird collection of things until he settled on a disc that he didn't know at all, he just found the album cover to be pretty interesting.

Ethan put the disc into the vault and pressed play. The radio hit stopped, and instead the sounds of a tame guitar filled the car, giving it all a nice ambience.

"Nice pick," muttered Lucas, seeming satisfied enough.

Ethan felt oddly comforted knowing that Lucas liked the CD he picked and said, "Thanks."

Soon, they pulled into Hamilton's driveway and Lucas got out of the car. "You can come inside with me if you'd like, but you can also wait out here. I don't mind either way."

At first Ethan wanted to stay in the car, but he decided to just go in there with him. He didn't have anything better to do in his car, and he'd probably just end up uselessly scrolling on Instagram for a while if he stayed there.
