It was clear that Summer was upset, even when she just said that she was tired. And yeah, she was tired, she had a newborn. But her boyfriend and the father of her baby had abandoned them. So she wasn't okay. And she wouldn't admit that.
"Summer, I know you hate me and you probably will for a long time." Scarlett started, watching her daughter stare down at her dark phone screen as she stirred the spoon in the coffee mug. "But you can't keep it in. I know you're upset about Andrew leaving and you haven't said a word about it."
Things had definitely been less tense between the two of them since Noelle was born, but Scarlett knew her daughter was still angry about everything that had happened. Scarlett couldn't blame her for that and even though Summer was still barely talking to her, she wasn't gonna just sit by and watch her daughter suffer alone.
"It doesn't matter." Summer muttered, a single tear slipping from her eye.
"Of course it matters, Summer."
"I could've dealt with him not wanting to be with me, and not loving me anymore, but he didn't leave because of me. He left because his daughter wasn't perfect and he couldn't handle that. And I'm the one who has to explain that to her when she gets older." Summer said as she finally glanced up, "And I don't hate you. I did for a really long time, and I wanted to keep hating you. But I don't."
