bree whistled as they walked down towards the car while percy twirled the keys. "guys, i have a driver if you want to relax before we risk our lives for the sake of the world." nico offered. "sounds good!" bree said, ignoring his last few words.

percy shrugged as nico summoned his driver. "what do you think we're leaving behind?"

"a nice christmas break with my boyfriend and my dad and persephone." nico said sorrowfully. "a christmas break with my friend who i finally met, but on the bright side, i get to spend time with my new brother and my best friend's brother." nico smiled secretly. "i'm trying to be angsty," he thought. bree reminded him so much of hazel and bianca. he pulled his jacket closely around him. "pssstttt…" percy whispered. "we can see your smiles, nico. you're not slick."

"why would you expose nico like that?" bree asked, interlocking her hands behind her head and leaning her head back onto them.

the arrived at the car and hopped in. percy gave their driver the keys and buckled up. "nico doesn't mind." he said and nico shrugged. "it's okay. i don't mind, really." bree smiled at her brother.

they sat in silence, with only their thoughts. nico leaned back on the chair and closed his eyes, imagining the last moments he'd spent with will. they'd been on his bed talking. percy fell back asleep and began dreaming. he found himself in front of the white-haired goddess astraea. "hello again, perseus." she said, grooming a garden of bachelor's buttons and forget-me-nots. "why am i here?" he asked, looking at her flowers. "ah, well i was thinking about the blessed. it might your sister."

he nodded. "we assumed so." he added. "i'm glad you're figuring it out. summon some water for me, please, dear." she asked sweetly. percy did as she asked and watered her flowers gently.

meanwhile, bree sat up, thinking of what she'd be doing right now if she were not on this quest. she'd be roaming camp with callista, or rachel. she'd be meeting her sister. they'd hug and smile.

it was odd having two new siblings, along with her brother. maybe she'd been doing holiday homework with callista. actually, she should've brought that- nevermind. if she didn't focus on the quest, doing homework would be pointless because without focus, they'd fail and they'd be dead. who were they ever fighting anyway? titans? cyclopes? hydras? rogue gods? there was no hint except "burning" and "overthrowing".

maybe she'd be at home with her mum, wrapping presents or baking cookies. cookies sounded good. her stomach rumbled. she ignored it and looked down at her new necklace. it seemed to have significance, but what the significance was, she didn't know.

"nico?" she asked. "is there anyway to contact people with phones?"

nico nodded. "you can iris-message. make a rainbow, throw in a drachma and address who and where." he instructed. she nodded. "hey, are you okay? i know this is weird. i remember how i felt." he nodded. "it gets better. you meet so many good people." bree smiled. "yeah, i'm good. thank you, nico." "you can call me neeks if you want." he smiled slightly. "thanks, neeks." she smiled back. their relationship grew a bit: sweet siblings.
