ares followed the car persistently. he had to tell her she couldn't do it, because she did not understand the task. hades had sent him, instead of hermes, because ares would get his point across. the chauffeur suddenly received the mental message from his master and pulled over. bree panicked, but the zombie told her it was fine. ares pulled over as well. he knocked on the window and the chauffeur rolled it down. bree swallowed her fear. "y-yes?" she stuttered, mentally cursing herself. the fires at camp died, sending relief through the camp.

"i told you that you can't do it alone, because you don't know what you're doing." he explained. "your father sent me because he knew i'd make you listen." bree's eyes sparkled. "what?" "hades told me to come find you. you're not just going to save hestia. you're going to have to fight too. he's going to send monsters after you for training," he said. "h-he's going to do what?!" the lord of bloodlust and war disappeared in a cloud of red with a whisper of, "good luck, punk." bree cursed. "gods..." she mumbled bitterly. "welcome to my world, kid," percy said and clapped her on the shoulder, making her wince.

"you think we can go to the beach after all this, if we live?" bree asked and percy smiled. "probably. the west coast is okay. nothing like the east coast, but it's alright. normally warm. they're are a lot of tropical naiads and mermaids in southern california." he said, remembering how the naiads nearly dragged annabeth in the last time and he had to save her. annabeth hadn't been a big fan of the sea creatures since the sirens on their second quest together.

bree's eyes sparkled. "mermaids?"

percy nodded. "yeah, in the southern west coast, they have tails that are pink, red, orange, yellow, and sometimes white and green. east coast mermaids are blue, green, purple, grey, and white. they're barely warm colours." bree smiled, imagining spending her summer with a pretty mermaid, probably flirting and having sweet banter. "mermaid girlfriends, maybe?" bree offered. percy shrugged. "we're greek, so yeah, probably." bree did a happy dance in her head. nico smiled. "so you likes girls, huh?" "both, really." she said with a smile.

"a true greek," percy nodded, smiling. "you sound like yoda when you talk like that," nico said and wacked percy with his blanket he'd brought along in his bag. percy blushed. "really? i thought it sounded cool, like a prophet."

bree chuckled and shook her head. "kinda, but kinda not." she added to the conversation. percy frowned, and wacked nico with his blanket as well. "shush, jacket boy." he demanded. "do not call me jacket boy!" nico demanded as well, trying not to get blue fluff in his mouth and eyes.

bree shook her head again, this time in disappointment at the two boys as if they were her children acting up in Wal-Mart. nico caught this and smiled. "you will be shaking your head at percy a lot on this quest." percy gasped. "no way, i'm such a good quest partner." he said, holding his heart. "you guys are insane." bree said, holding in a smile. she'd never had friends like that. she had friends of course, but not like there two. her sister never made her laugh like nico. camp half-blood was in a state of serenity.

everyone knew that with the children of the big three on the quest, it would be done in no time. with their experience, they'd do well. bree had made it to camp alone, and nico and percy had survived two demigod wars. the trees were only slightly damaged. the children of demeter went to work with pollux, the satyrs, and the dryads. callista ventured out to the pond in the woods and dove in. the naiads greeted her and she waved back. "might i ask you something?" callista asked a non-specific nodded. she smiled and nodded. "go ahead, your highness." she said. callista twiddled her fingers.

"do you think percy will be okay on his quest?" she asked. the naiad nodded. "our prince will be fine!" she said proudly.

callista dropped to the bottom of pond and crossed her legs across each other. she prayed to thanatos and the fates to protect her brother and friends. this would not be an easy trip. a fish nuzzled her hand to get her attention. a naiad pointed up to a face above the water, gesturing to her to join them at the surface. the person had auburn hair and green skin: a dryad. to swam up to the meet the person.
