After my little chit-chat with Robin and Batman, there were no more chains or locked cell.

I slept on my cell. They didn't want me to go where they lived because they wanted to keep their true identities hidden. I couldn't blame them.

However, I was free to walk around the Batcave. Even when they weren't here. I guessed that when they were not on a mission, they were doing their duty as whoever they were in normal life. And that the sun was up too because being in a cave all the time blurred the notion of time.

I didn't have a healthy routine because I couldn't sleep well. I was not claustrophobic but not seeing the sky – even a cloudy one – for a while was difficult for me who liked to walk around the city. I was also awaken by nightmare of the owl guy – or Talon as they said. I could feel his sharp claws around my neck when I woke up, drenched in sweat. I lost track of time and I would have forget to eat if Robin wasn't coming to check on me and brought me food, staying long enough to assure himself that I was eating enough.

Robin was coming more than Batman. He said that he wanted to be sure I wasn't dying, starving to death. But I could see worries in his eyes when he looked at the dark circles under my eyes and how his eyebrows furrowed when I was not eating all the food he brought me.

He came also to train me. He taught me some moves to fight against others. We fought during hours until my body crashed down on the ground, completely exhausted. I had bruises all over my body but I couldn't care less. I felt my muscles being stronger and it gave me hope.

One day, Robin came and talked to me about Jessy. He apologized for being an ass and thinking that I was part of her disappearance. He told me about how they got in contact with her and how she worked with them. She read our parents papers that were in the cellar, she asked question all over Gotham and she even dug into our parents' grave to do her own autopsy.

I looked at him as he was talking about her and I could see pride in his eyes as well as sadness but also guilt. He thought it was their fault that she got into trouble. They pushed her too much, always asking for more information, putting further into danger.

I smiled, trying to tell him that it wasn't his fault. Jessy was a stubborn girl since her birth. No one could tell her to stop something close to her heart.

One night, Robin and I fought for a long time and sweat drenched my sportswear. I blocked one of his blow and I kicked him in the leg. But as I tried to punched him in the jaw, he blocked my wrist and his arm snaked around my neck. My back was pressed against this stomach. My breath was short, my heart has beating like crazy. The sharp nails of the Talon flashed in my eyes and I felt panicked taking control of my body. My free hand grabbed his arm and my nails scratched his skin to the blood. I kicked his foot and when his arm let me go, I turned around quickly and my leg hit his ribs. He felt to the ground as I took a step back, my breath uneven. I felt dizzy and the cave was spinning in front of my eyes. Robin looked up at me frowning.

"Y/N, you're okay? "

I fell on the ground, pressing my forehead against the concrete to feel the coolness. I needed to connect my body to something real to anchor my mind and not losing my sanity. My body was shaking. I got cold. I closed my eyes taking deep breaths.

The iron face of the Talon flashed behind my eyelids, his nails covered in blood. A warm hand on my shoulder snapped me out of my hallucination.

"Y/N? What's happening? "

I could feel Robin's warm breath on my neck. My palms pressed on the ground turned into fists as my nails dug into my skin.

"I'm fine" I whispered.

I tried to stand up but my legs didn't comply. Robin wrapped his arm around my shoulders to let me lean on him. He helped me walking to a couch and we sat down. I kept leaning against him, needing the warmth. In any other situation I would feel awkward or uneasy but at the moment I just needed someone to hold me. And Robin understood me. He wrapped his arms around me and put gently my head against his shoulder. I closed my eyes, feeling his fingers brushing my hair.

After a moment of silence I heard him talking.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

I sighed.

"I- "

The words got stuck in my throat. He didn't pressure me to answer. He just waited, brushing my hair gently. I was quite amazed to see that as deadly his hands could be, they could also be so soft.

"I think waiting is killing me." I confessed.

I didn't know how long I had been here but knowing that my sister was maybe living hell while I was secured in the Batcave put me to the edge of sanity. What happened during our fight was not the first time. When I was alone in the Batcave, walking around aimlessly, I had those kind of seizures when I was overwhelmed by my feelings.

"I need to do something Robin. My sister is somewhere and I need to find her. I can not stay here, doing nothing. I need to do something. I have to."

The next time Robin came to the Batcave, Batman was with him. We sat around the table like the first time we had a talk. Then Batman explained.

"We have been approached by the Court of Owls. They wanted us to come to a ball. We think it's a good opportunity to see who is part of it. Robin told me that you need to do something or you'll lose your sanity. I'm sorry that keeping you here had been hard on you. So Robin suggested you come with us to the ball as his plus one. However we have been invited as our real identities. Luck is on our side because they don't know that we are Batman and Robin. But if you come with us ..."

"I will know your true identities" I ended for him.

He nodded. I looked at Robin. His green eyes were shining behind his mask.

"And you're not found of the idea, aren't you?" I added looking back at Batman.

He sighed.

"I think that we can trust you but we can not trust what you'll say if you're captured and interrogated. " He said without really answering.

It was my turn to sigh.

"I want you to know that I prefer to shoot a bullet in my brain than compromising the two only people who are really doing something for the city" I said completely honest.

In the corner of my eyes I saw Robin shuddered.

"However, I won't pressured you to show me the real you, so I'll understand if you don't want me to come." I finished.

We stayed silent for a while.

"I think it won't be necessary for you to shoot yourself" Batman said putting in front of me my doll masked. " I think that now you're kind of part of the team, as long as this mission is going own and when someone is part of the team we don't let them behind."

I felt a warm feeling spreading from my heart to the rest of my body.

"Because you showed us your true face, it's time to show you ours."

And with the last word, they took off their masks.
