Hiccup had to work in the afternoons at the shop with Gobber. His dad was there rambling on about being chief but Hiccup needed advice about something personal.
"Dad I need to talk to you about something."
"Ah, I understand. Okay so first thing about being chief is..."
"No dad. I need advice on girls."
"Oh. "
"So, the thing is I think I may be in love with Merida and i don't know what to do."
"Ask her out. "
"But dad. I..."
"ASK HER OUT NOW!"
"How? I don't know where to start. "
"Well she is going to visit her parents right?"
"Right."
"Great you can practice while she is gone."
"That's it."
"For now. "
"Okay."
After work he met up with Astrid to say goodbye to Merida who was leaving on a ship to DunBroche. She could t wait to visit her family and Pappy and Alandra, but couldn't wait to get back.
They waved until they could no longer see the ship. Hiccup had a lot of work to do.
