A FEW WEEKS LATER

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

"You've changed" Ernest says handing me my beer.

"Changed?" I asked taking a sip

"Yeah since the football game, you've been happier"

"Your saying I'm not normally happy?" I ask raising an eyebrow at him

"Isla thinks it's because you like Julian" I nearly spit out my beer at the sound of his name.

"Why would she think that?" I ask wiping the beer from my chin

"Because it's 12.30 on a Tuesday and we're sitting in a bar in perfect view of the bartenders."

"And?"

"Jade come on I'm your brother you can tell me" he jokes

"There's nothing to tell, I got drunk he walked me home then he kicked a football at me the next time I saw him"

"I can set you both up if you want?" He asks

"Ernest if you say one word I will tell mum what happened to her car the last time you drove it" I say looking at him and raising an eyebrow.

"Okay fine I won't say anything, I'm going to the toilet" he tells me, I nod and turn to look at the bar doors.  Ernest comes back with a smile on his face,

"Do I want to know?" I ask

"You'll find out soon" he smirks, I raise an eyebrow but shake it off.

Just we finish our drinks, Julian walks through the door; Ernest waves him over and sits him down in his seat while he went to get drinks.

"Isn't it a bit early to be drinking?" He asks me

"It's the evening somewhere" I joke

"This is true, your brother and I are going to see a film later if you want to join us?"

"Thanks but I'm not a third wheel." I say getting up, I start walking to the door when a hand grabs my wrist. Ernest's face was looking down at me,

"What are you doing?" He asks, I pull my wrist from his grip and look him in the eye

"Leaving"

JULIAN POV

Ernest walks back to the table, three beers in one hand and rubbing his head with the other.

"What did I do?"

"Nothing, it's her" he sighs putting the beers on the table.

"Has she always been like that?" I ask grabbing one of the beers

"More since our dad died. Her life hasn't been the best since we got the news, she shut herself away and didn't speak to anyone for months." He explained

"How long ago was that?"

"About 3 years" he says

"I'm sorry to hear that"

"It's okay, we got through but we have more important things to think about. How are you going to bump into her again?" He wonders

"You seem overly invested in your sisters love life"

"Well it will stop my mum from asking when I'm getting I good girl" he laughs.
