"There are two main kind of writers...
Gardeners and Architects

Neither has a distinct advantage over the other. The only difference is the method at which they approach story crafting.

Gardeners let stories grow naturally, think people like George Martin, but they tend to rework their first drafts very much due to the many plot holes and rambling bits.

Architects carefully plan out everything before they even start writing, all characters and the main parts of the plot are already planned, but the flow of the text may come off as a "manufactured feel."

Now you may wonder, "So what do I do now?". You have 2 options.

A) Stick with "gardening" and let the story progress till you reach an end, whether it is a hit or a miss. Then rework that draft several times to make a coherent story.

B) Try being an architect. Plan the starting point, climax, and end before you even put a word on the page. Make flash cards with the personality and traits of your characters and concisely begin to create your story.
