Over the next week, the King's got settled and learned their ways around the rescue.
On Friday Penny and I went out to lunch with Emilie and met her family, Tia, Landon and Endora.
They are great people and we became fast friends.Milo decided to take a short break from flying, saying it was too upsetting for Killian, but I think it's also for himself.
Speaking of Killian, he's been acting weird. Trying to convince Milo to go fly, and even asking to go with. For a kid whose scared of heights, he sure want to fly.
I'm not saying I've been avoiding Milo, but I've been avoiding him.
He just confuses me. Sometimes it's like he's flirting, then he just ignores me. I've never dated anyone. Just because, no one has ever really stood out to me. Except I'm very intrigued by Milo. It's just weird.
Things didn't go sideways until Wednesday. A week after we met Killian and his family.
Super early on Wednesday everyone in the house woke up by a shit ton of banging.
"Everyone wake up! Team meeting!" Ruby called from downstairs. Panic evident in her shakey tone.
Penny didn't even hesitate, as soon as she heard her sisters call she bolted downstairs. Still in her blue teddy bear pajamas.
I frowned at Arielle as we both left the Attic. Me still dressed in a thin Violet tank top and matching shorts, and Arielle dressed in an oversized shirt. Followed by the still nameless puppy.
"What's going on?" I asked shivering. I glanced at the clock on the wall. It isn't even house 5:30 a.m.
Ruby sighed and ran a hand through her wavy red hair.
"There's a storm coming in from Canada. We need to prepare. The news said it's going to be a bad one. We need to put the animals in the concrete enclosures. Get extra supply's. Shit we even need to board up the windows." Ruby said, nearly freaking out.Mom raced over and placed her hands on Ruby's shoulders. "Hey it's okay. We're all here to help. Just tell us what to do. Okay?" Mom said gently and calmly. When Ruby nodded mom stepped away.
"Okay so we're going to split into three teams of four. No one goes anywhere alone. It's too dangerous. Okay first, I need to run into town to get wood and extra stuff. Penny, Kailani, and uh." Ruby said before pausing.
"Can I go? I wanna pick up an extra inhaler." Milo said from his spot on the stairs.
"Inhaler?" I asked confused.
"Arielle is asthmatic. She has one, but it's always good to have a backup." Milo said shrugging his shoulders.
Ruby nodded "Alright. That's team one. Team two will be in charge of putting the bigger animals away. Luckily most will probably already be inside since they are likely scared. So all you have to do is lock the doors. Team two is Nani, Copper, Keanu, and Killian." Ruby said handing mom a checklist.
"That leaves Royale, Keni , Belle and Arielle as team three. You have the smaller animals and the garage. Just bring all the cages out of the garage and put them in the basement." Ruby instructed.
"We have a basement?" Keni asked confused. "Wait not the time for questions."
Ruby just sighed. "Alright let's hurry. We should have around three hours before the storm reaches us." She said before everyone raced away.
"Give me five minutes to get changed." I shouted running up the stairs.
I quickly changed into a long sleeved shirt and thick leggings.
My only jacket was lost with our other stuff, so I just left the Attic.
I paused at the door and looked at the puppy. "You stay with Mom. Be a good boy."
