It was two days later when the power came back on. Immediately mom rushed the wolf pups to her office, followed by Foster who has been helping with them since day one.
Since the power was out mom couldn't do anything to help the pups. We've just been keeping them warm and feeding them formula.
Eight days later, we were able to return the three grey pups to their mother.
The grey one is still having trouble breathing. And the red one broke it's back legs, so it's still healing.
Mom thinks that they might not be able to return to the habitat at all. That they might have to be raised as pets.
I tried once, a few days ago to heal them, using my magic. But I just couldn't make it work.
Finally on the twelfth day since the storm, we were finally able to go into town.
Mom said it was time to bring the others. She sent Keanu, Royale, Copper, Belle and Arielle to go get the Grey's.
And she sent me, Penny, Milo, Keni and Killian to get the Loss's.
"They live in a small house by the life guard tower. Check their house first. Their guardian Becket should be there. If they aren't, he can point you in the right direction. Remember, they likely don't know anything. So be gentle. Just invite them over for dinner. And Kailani, you might get dizzy again. Just fight through it. Okay?" Mom said from the doorway of the Attic.
I nodded as I slipped on a white button up crop top and a pair of shorts over my swimsuit.
Earlier mom had taught me how to put my wings away, and even enchanted all of my clothes to not rip when they come out. I don't like have my wings away, it feels more natural to have them out. But I don't want to scare the Loss's.
"Does this look normal? I mean I don't want to seem out of place. If I'm swimming then it won't seem strange. Right?" I asked mom as I put my hair up in a ponytail.
"You're over thinking this. Just tell them the truth. You're new here and you're having a house party. Foster and Conner are coming over later to help me set up." Mom said smiling.
I nodded. "Okay. I'm ready to go. I think." I said smiling.
"Okay. I think everyone is downstairs waiting." Mom said heading downstairs.
I followed after her and sighed. "What if I mess this up?" I asked quitely, flashing mom a frown.
"You'll be fine. Don't doubt yourself. And your friends will be there to help." Mom said reassuringly.
"Hey Kailani. You ready to go?" Penny asked. I glanced at her in her pretty violet sundress and nodded. "Yup. Let's go."
Penny and I met up with the others at Milo's Jeep. "Ready?" I asked Milo. He glanced up from his phone and smiled. "Yup. All good. You?" He asked.
Over the last few days we've gotten really close. Almost as close as Penny and I. Basically best friends.
"Yep. I'm great. Did you bring a pair of swimming clothes?" I asked as I got in the passenger seat.
"I'm not much of a swimmer." He laughed.
"Aw. Too bad. Guess I'll just swim alone." I said pouting.
"I'll swim with you Lani." Killian said mocking his brother. I hated that he used that nickname but ignored it.
Penny smiled. "Me and her just got really pretty swimsuits too." She said. "They are totally hot." She added smirking at me. "I hope one of the loss kids are cute. Right Kailani?" She asked giggling.
Keni laughed. Loudly. "Oh please, my sister has never dated anyone. Let alone have a crush. I doubt that will change anytime soon."
Milo chuckled and sent me a small half smile.
I blushed and rolled my eyes.
