When someone looks in the mirror and all they can see is ugliness, you know that there is a problem. This ugliness isn't just what a person sees staring back at them but it is an ugliness that they see within themselves.
It is when the reflection looks lost, confused and most importantly: sad.
It is when the reflection is empty.

Depression (which is often linked with social anxiety) is not uncommon and is very, very real to the people living with it. A person can go a long time without realising that it is plaguing their thoughts, actions and emotions.
It doesn't necessarily come from huge life events (or certainly dramatised events such as in this story).
Everyday is not a day lost to depression, but a day you have survived it.
Depression is life altering and can be crippling. It's like any other illness: debilitating, tiring.
It's more than stress and sadness. It's a hollowness. An emptiness. A listlessness. A feeling of being in the world but not being part of it - separate from everyone. Isolated.
