Cole's POV
I drove in the direction I'm sure they went but wasn't able to catch up with Zac and Alec.
My next stop was in Utah. I've been to Emily's house before so I knew exactly how to get there. It was a long drive. Along the way I managed to dump the truck I was driving and picked up a motorcycle. I stole it from some wanna be biker and took off before he could see my face.
When I made it to Emily's no one was home. I wasn't sure if I was surprised. Part of me knew she'd be gone. Zac's been here before too and he's on the prowl for her. She's smart enough to know she can't come home.
I broke in.
It wasn't hard. I felt bad at first but remembered I was trying to protect Emily. If breaking into her house and trying to find out where she was helped her I'm sure she'd understand.
Upon going through all the rooms I stumbled into Emily's. It was just how I remembered it when Zac and I made a visit here. I will admit I looked through her things.
I reached the kitchen and looked around. There was a notepad on the kitchen island.
"St. Bear Hotel room 24" it read.
I followed the clue. Turns out that's where the police brought Emily. Her mom wrote it down to know what to put in the GPS. I made it too late. By the time I arrived any sign of Emily and her mom were gone.
That is until I hung around the police station. I found the names of the officers involved with Emily's case and pretended to be interested in interning. I snooped through their desk and found a state and a city. Emily was in Texas.
I found my way there and found my way to her. My new name is Sean. I chose it to honor my trucker friend. In a way he is a reason I'm able to be here now.
I just left her new house. Meeting her "parents" didn't go as well as I had hoped for. In order to protect Emily I need them to like me. They'll warm up to me. They'll have to.
I made my way to my apartment. It wasn't cheap to live in but I've found my way around those problems. Stolen credit cards weren't hard to live off of.
Emily's POV
I sat on my bed and let a sigh out. It was loud. It was big. It was stressful.
I laid down and closed my eyes.
BRRRR sounds filled the air.
I shot up and looked around my room. It was coming from in here.
It was vibrations. I got out of bed and took a closer look everywhere as it continued. I was getting closer. It was by my window. I moved the curtain out of the way. Suddenly I saw it. There was a phone sitting on my window sill. It was vibrating.
I picked it up. This wasn't my phone. There were texts that covered the screen. There was no password. I opened it to read them.
"Earth to Emily."
"I'm going to keep texting until you hear these coming through."
"E"
"M"
"I"
"L"
"Y"
"!"
They kept coming in.
Whose phone was this? Who was texting me.
"Who is this?" I shakily texted back. I swallowed with anxiety waiting on a reply.
