PART 5: TIMESKIP- 6 DAYS
I've stayed on this ferry for almost 7 days straight, and better yet, I've stayed here at the bar for nearly 7 days straight. I can't get over what my dad said to me, and I can't get over how I struck him. How I drew blood. I sit up and stare at the table in front of me, littered with beer glasses and all sorts of beverages. I can see my horrid reflection on one of the glasses. Although I can just see my dad's face...a reflection just like a broken family portrait. Is that what we are? I sit here and nearly tremble, I feel just torn apart. Much time passes before I have the guts to move from my table and end my tab. I usually drink to forget but all the meanwhile this just fight, chase, whatever you wanna call it just hung over my head in a cloud of fear and guilt. I slam down a few coins of random currency and leave the bar. I'm surprised Ramses and Hades haven't found me yet. I start to sway as I walk, pushing the bar door open, nearly falling on my face when I trip over my drunk self. I grab the railing of the ship and look down into the bright blue ocean below us. Swaying back and forth makes me even sicker; I grip onto the railing even harder as I slowly kneel down. I feel like I'm gonna die...or at least get kidney failure...All of a sudden, it hits me. I get a big wave of vertigo and I stand up to look down at the ocean again. I start to feel queasy. Within seconds I hurl over the edge of the ferry and just hang there on the railing. I haven't even been drinking water..or eaten, like at all. I throw up again.
Once finished with throwing up, I back up against the wall and slide down it to sit. I reek of alcohol and look like I've just got done murdering someone. None of the blood has been cleaned from my jacket, nor my face. I stand up again with a loud groan. Ramses peeks around the corner.
"Hey, I found her!" Ramses shouts back. Hades peaks his head from around the corner. Ramses strolls towards me while I lean against the wall and walk towards him too.
"God Sam, have you been at the bar for the whole time we've been here?" Ramses sighs. Hades soon shows up behind him. Both Ramses and Hades look like they've been badly beaten up. I don't think they've gotten any sleep...like, at all.
"What's wrong with you guys?" I say between hurls. Ramses lets out a laugh.
"What's wrong with me?" He pauses "What's wrong with you?"
I shoot him a bad look. "Whaddya think?"
"Drinking?" Hades chirps in.
"You're a quick learner youngblood." Ramses coos. I immediately run over to the railing and throw up into the ocean again. I turn back and face them, wiping my mouth. "Yup." I softly say back.
The ferry horns blare as we pull into the port. Shouts from the docks heighten our senses making us instantly remember why we were on it in the first place. Surprisingly enough, for being such a small and non-popular island, it's super nice. I'm even more surprised when Ramses tells me that us royalty owns it. The port and docks all give off a Venice, Italy kinda vibes with octopi hanging from the masts of the ships, but like, with way more Polynesians. Although it's fairly small, they do know how to utilize the space quite efficiently. Lush palm trees and exotic ferns line the shores and the same goes for all the way in the middle of the island as well. The plants are a deep turquoise green color and the water mirrors the same complexion. Small yet beautiful detailed houses and stores conquer nearly half of the island. I look back at Paraparaumu beach and wonder if my dad could be waiting or even guarding the coastline. I have no idea what exactly happened while he and mom were gone, but seeing his face and experiencing his temper, I don't think he'll ever want to leave the kingdom walls. I don't even know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
As we slowly inch ourselves in the thin slot between other boats, the anchor drops stopping us suddenly and we all fall forward from impact.
"We finally made it.." Ramses exhales, wiping some dirt off his face. "But we need to take another boat to get to my place."
I snap back at him. "You can never give me a break.."
"Yeah, but what would be the fun if I wasn't messing with you all the time?" Ramses stands near the railing, taking a deep breath of the ocean. Then, he starts to climb over it, standing on it even. When with one step back he plummets into the dark water. Or so we thought. Ramses ends up landing on an old wooden rowboat, nearly split into pieces. Talk about a downgrade. Hades and I lean over the railing weary if we should jump down or not. I shrug and in one swoop, I jump right over and land dead center in the boat. Now, both Ramses and I urge Hades to come and join us.
"Dudes, I don't trust this." He shouts back.
"What can you not trust about this?" Ramses leans against the back of the rowboat and it breaks off, almost making him fall backwards into the water. Hades pouts.
"Just take the ramp Hades!" I comment. "And I thought I was supposed to be the princess." My suggestive comment more or less determines Hades because he runs back from the railing and jumps into the boat; landing on Ramses.
"Why hello there" Ramses coos at Hades. Hades pushes himself off of Ramses's lap but falls into the water instead. We all start laughing.
"Dear Lord, can we just go already?" Hades spits out water. Ramses and I help him into the rickety row-boat and we are on our way.
Both Hades and I make Ramses row, due to the fact that we have no clue where we are going and because we simply don't want to. Soon as we leave the port and glide across the coastline, the more and denser and less populated the scenery becomes.
