Chapter 47: Rail Yard Intel

Cole walks up to the car, opening the door and hops inside, Cassie follows in suit as Kuo was going over the blueprints of the rail yard "The raids from the ice gang are getting worse, yet Bertrand continues to go to this train yard all the time." she informs Zeke and Nix. Cole walks over to the chair, sitting on the head as Cassie leans back against the wall, crossing her arms and legs. "Weird. Why would a rich bastard like Bertrand want to get his shoes all muddy in a place like that?" Zeke questions. "I am still working on that," Kuo informs him.

Cassie rolls her eyes, "It's quite obvious." she states and they looked at her, "Bertrand needs monsters for the Militia to fight and he doesn't want it to be seen, so he comes to the rail yard to... make more." she informs her, Kuo rolls her eyes at her. "Girl's got a good point." Nix agrees with her. "Can we get him on one of his visits?" Cole asks her, Kuo exhales. "No. They are completely random," she informs him.

Nix rolls her eyes "I know what he's but to, Cassie knows what he's up to, but she doesn't listen, Cole!" she snaps, Cassie looks at her. "Hey, Nix, why don't you let the grownups talk for a while. Thank you." Kuo throws at her, Cassie threw her a glare "See, that's what I'm talking about." Nix groans and Cole sighs. "I'm listening. Let's hear it, Nik," he tells her and Kuo rolls her eyes at him. "Okay. You know how Bertrand fight?" she asks them. Cassie pushes herself from the wall and steps closer to her, "Like a fanatic. Go on." she answers. "Well, he's got other powers too. Those swamp freaks? They are his." she informs him. "You mean the monsters? He's making them," he states as he was a fact.

Cassie turns away as she remembers the poor man that was turned into a swamp monster. "Yeah! I saw it myself. They're wild at first, but then he works with them for a while... and those monsters are his!" Nix informs him. Zeke chuckles a little as Cassie runs her hand over her face, thinking of the horror. "So you're saying that they bond with him?" Kuo questions him. "Yeah," Nix answers her. "What like a like a bear and his cub?" he questions, Cassie exhales as she found nothing funny about this information. "That's what I'm saying," Nix answers him. "Come on, like Bertrand's their mommy?" he jokes "Yeah," she answers as Cole was thinking about it. "Nix, how... how do you even... how do you even know any of this?" Kuo questions her.

Nix glares at her, "I've been there myself! I even tried it out! I got a monster of my every own!" she informs them, Cassie looks at her in shock as Kuo and Zeke scoff at her. "You're saying that you have one of those as your pet right now?" she questions her, Cassie shot her a glare and places her hand on Nix's shoulder. "What happened?" she asks her and Nix frowns at her. "Poor baby... we tried to leave together, but the Militia got wise. He died protecting me." she informs her and Cassie exhales as it makes sense to her. "Damn," Zeke mutters at her and steps to the side. "Well this is all very touching, but if what you say is true-" Kuo states.

Nix glares at her as Cassie rolls her eyes, "Wait, wait, a second." she snaps going to jump of the crate, but Cassie places her hand on her shoulder, stopping her. "Are you calling me a liar, Snow White?" she snaps at her, "And summoning Lighting from the sky is a butch of lies too?" Cassie questions her. They looked at her and saw that she was every pissed right now. Kuo went to counter, but Cassie steps closer. "Falling from a thousand feet from the air and come out okay isn't normal, Kuo." she snaps and Cole stood to his feet. "A five-foot man turning into a fifty-foot fucking maggot should be send off warning bell!" she snaps again, "Whoa, hey, hey, hey, hey!" Cole shouts over her, pressing his hand to her stomach, stopping her from advancing onto Kuo. "Enough," he tells her.

Cassie exhales and steps away, raking her hands through her hair and exhales, calming down. "If what Nix is saying is true. Cole, maybe you, Cassandra, and I-- we should go, and we should collect evidence." Kuo states as Cole turns away from them, exhaling as Nix places her hand on Cassie's shoulder as she watches her calm down. "If we can prove that whole this is actually going on we could turn the entire city against Bertrand. Afterward freeing as many prisoners as we can." she went on as Cassie could think clearly again.
