IIII. Two Cracks

HIS BODY ALMOST SEEMED TO BE ON AUTOPILOT. Every single sound around him seemed to be droned out while every single bone in his body felt as if they were on fire and buzzing at the same time.

Shutting his eyes, Regulus leaned forward, the black hair on his head falling in front of his eyes. The crisp air hit the Black's cheeks making his face feel much number than it already was. Grasping the rails in front of him, his breath even as he breathed in and out trying to remain calm.

Snowflakes from the night sky, trapping themselves on Regulus's clothes.

The face of the girl's dark eyes and victorious smirk flashed through his mind, his grip tightening and his knuckles turning white. His mind was running uncontrollably.

There was no way out for him currently, he knew it. And so did the Ravenclaw girl.

Tilting her head back, Theresa let it hit the wooden frame of her bed. A grin was imprinted on her face, as it had been for a couple of hours now.

"Theresa? Are you in here?"

The door to the dorm room opened with Nellie walking in. Her eyes scanned the room, before stopping at Theresa's face, who still wore a smile on her face staring at Nellie,

"What do you need, Nellie?" Theresa asked, crossing her arms, the grin on her mood still not disappearing,

"Uh..." Nellie began, confused by Theresa's happy demeanor, "... dinner is going to begin in a couple of minutes,"

"Okay, thanks. I'll be there." Theresa nodded,

Nellie stood at the door, not knowing how to comprehend the fact that there was more than a tight-lipped smile on her dormmate's face. Her eyes remained trained on the black-haired girl, almost watching in awe.

"What are you looking at?" Theresa questioned, crossing her arms and the smile on her face slowly disappearing under Nellie's gaze,

"Nothing."

"That's what I thought, now, you can go downstairs to dinner. I'll catch up with you later." The black-haired girl sighed, getting off the bed,

"Y-yeah, okay."

Watching as the door shut and Nellie walked out, Theresa pulled out a quill and a scrap piece of parchment, writing a small note on the paper before shoving it in her pocket.

As Regulus walked into the Great Hall, it felt cold. Unlike the warm feeling that it usually gave, it felt like everything was growing cold although nothing had changed at all.

Taking a deep breath, Regulus walked over to the usual group of Slytherins that he sat with, but his eyes didn't leave the Ravenclaw table.

But the sound of steps drew him out of his trance. Regulus shifted his gaze, hearing steps approach him by the second. Moving his eyes away from the table and towards the doors of the Great Hall, Regulus gulped.
