Chapter 8

___________

I won't give all the details on what Alex and I did next but, I will tell you that his parents weren't pleased at all that he wasn't home when they wanted him to be. My mother didn't seem to mind that he was there, she looked quite happy about it honestly. After Alex left, she made dinner for the both of us. We talked about the many things that happened in our day. Though, a question stuck itself in my head but I felt afraid to ask her. I felt my wolf push, pointing out the if I said it in a nice way maybe she won't be upset.

I looked at her and asked, "Do you miss your mate?"

She seemed surprised for a second, "Well, yes, of course I do. Though, I can't mope around all the time. Besides, the people around distract me from any harm I can do to myself if I even think too deeply about him."

"I hope most are like that if they ever did lose their mate. I don't know what I would do, " I watch her pick at her food.

She stands up to take her place to the sink, while her back was turned to me she continue to say, "If you were to ever lose Alex, I will be here for you, thick and thin, those are the rules. We may not be blood but, I will still continue to act as though you are. You know your worth, you stand up for yourself, you are confident, you are a Luna."

I held my head high as I listened to her, she was right, "You did always teach me to go after my bigger goals and get back to the small ones later. Though, there will always be flaws in my strategies, not to seem basic but I like to ignore those flaws a lot. I want to be able to encourage that flaws are ok, again I may seem basic but it's an important basic subject."

"Then you will make that a goal."

We looked at each other and had a silent agreement. Finishing what was left on my plate, I wash it off and walk to my room. I don't exactly having my phone with me during meal time so, I hurry to it once I see it on my bed. There was a couple messages but they were from random numbers. Both came from Charlie and Angeni, saying that I needed to save their numbers and I did just that. I wonder why Alex hasn't txted me.

'He could be getting chewed out, it's our fault,' I nod, agreeing with Teicu.

The mind-link between was blocked again by his wall. I'm not going to push it, he knows I want to talk, he can feel it. Well all I can do is wait, may as well take a shower in the meantime. I grab a towel and walk to the bathroom, after turning the warm water on I take my clothes off. I start to feel slightly uncomfortable staring at my reflection in the mirror, usual I don't feel anything but something was off, I just don't know what it is. The water raises goosebumps once it hits my skin, I wet my hair down and before I could sense it a loud crashes rings through my room, causing my to jump in fright slightly. I hurry and grab my towel, wrapping it around my body, I look around for a weapon and some scissors. Stepping into my room, I notice there was no one to be found but a large rock with a note tied to it. I grab it and take the note off, my mother yells that she was coming in and I quickly hide the note under my blanket.

She slams my door open to see me picking up glass, "What happened?"

"Someone threw a rock at my window," just as I say that a piece of glass sticks itself into my finger. "Fuck."

"Language," I roll my eyes and get up after taking the glass out, I hold my finger to the towel I was wearing. "Let me see the rock." I had the rock over to her and watch her inspect it, her eyes fog over, she was mind-linking someone, "The Alpha and Luna are on their way, get dressed."

She walks out of my room and I quickly grab the note again to read it.

'Such a stunning figure like you should be wrapped around my arm, not his. - M'

My eyebrows crease together at the note, is this the man in my dreams? What does he want from me?  I hid the note under a bunch of  papers on my desk, in hope that no one would look for it. I find a baggy shirt in my dresser and slip it on, along with shorts. My legs felt smooth when the rubbed against my blanket as I sat down.  I waited there until the Alpha walked into my room and looked at the mess to the left of me.

"It smells like blood in here," he said looking at me finally.

I sigh and shrug, "A piece of glass got stuck in my finger but it's fine now."

Nodding, he walks closer to the glass, "Hand over the note, Antheia." I look at him surprised but stayed still, "It wasn't a question."

"Right," I walk over to the stack of papers and grab it to hand it to him.

"Thank you, now could you please go down stairs. I'll come to you if I have further questions about the note."

I bow my head and walk to the living room where everyone seemed to be. I sense my mother and the Luna as I got closer, they seemed like they were having a serious talk. Because of that, they didn't notice me standing there until they were down. After some quiet shouts at each other, they look at me with smiles on their faces. My mother pats a spot next to her on the couch, the Luna watched from the recliner as I took a seat.

"Alex should be here soon," I  nod and focus on my folded hands.

They continued talking about the situation, saying that the Alpha was taking a while. That only hyped up my anxiety which I'm sure they could feel. The room just felt so tense, I had to get out. Standing up, I walk to the kitchen and wait for Alex there. Another 10 minutes go by and the front door bursts open, Alex hurries inside, looking around frantically. His eyes meet mine and he runs towards me, wrapping his arms around me. His breathing was heavy and he was sweating. What was he doing?

"I'm not leaving you alone ever again," his voice was unwavering and deadly, It comforted me yet scared me at the same time. My arms held onto him tightly as he sniffed my hair, his tight hold loosened a little.

Footsteps from upstairs came stomping down, "There is a faint scent leading outside the window, it's foggy like them tried to cover it up. That could mean that there was a witch involved."

We all stared at the Alpha until my mother spoke, "Antheia has been having these dreams, I have already contacted a seer to come check it out, maybe she can help find out who this is. Did you find anything that had a scent on it?" The Alpha and handed a folded piece of paper to her, the note from earlier, my mother sniffed it and looked up at me, "Matchi."
