ch.14: love is a drug

i see kevin at the door in the pouring rain.

"kevin?! what're you doing here?"

"madeline. i need to tell you something."

i look at him all confused and then he takes my hand.

"madeline i love you. ever since we were kids i've always had feelings for you. i know you were involved with brandon b-but hes nothing. he would never treat you like how i will treat you. he's just a player and i would give you all my love! if you just say yes."

"say yes...? to what kevin i don't know what you're talking about."

"to being my girlfriend

"hold up what? kevin. you-you don't understand i-"

"i know you like brandon but we can work this out"

"no kevin that's not it-"

"i can help you get over him"

"NO KEVIN- that's not it. i'm just not into you like that. like sure you're cute and everything but i don't want to ruin our friendship like how i ruined it with brandon. well we both did. my point is, you are my best friend. i can't jeopardize that."

he just stared at me. still holding my hands.

"yeah..i get it. we have a nice friendship. i totally understand madeline."

"i'm sorry kevin."

"it's okay. i'll see you at school."

kevin left. i felt so bad. i just friend zoned him. i guess love is a drug.

i texted kevin saying sorry again. he took it pretty well when i explained to him what happened between me and brandon. he said that he'll wait for me. i told him he doesn't have to do that. we told each other good night and then i went to sleep.

                          v.THE NEXT DAY v.

i got ready for school and headed downstairs. caleb was waiting for me so we could walk to the bus stop.

"ready to go?" caleb asks

"yup!"

we walk to the bus stop and we see brandon there. it was awkward. he was just on his phone texting people.

"who do you think he's texting?" i whisper.

"don't worry about it maddy."

i try to take a peek and i see he's calling another girl "babygirl"

are you serious? i mean seriously are you serious. he's just smiling at his phone while she calls him baby and all.

then he calls her shawty. to see that he's saying that to someone else? it hurts.

the bus comes and i go inside and head to the back. brandon sits with his friend mason and caleb sits with his girlfriend.
