—————————————————

At the age of ten, Y/N was brought along to the battle of Paris. The great Ragnar Lothbrok had taken two of his young sons on the journey and inspired other parents to do the same. Not to fight, ofcourse, but to learn and experience the thrill of raiding and travelling.
Y/N's mother was a fierce shieldmaiden and Y/N's father was a warrior and close friend of Ragnar. Her parents wanted her to experience the raiding at a young age in order to become truly Viking. And over the years, that is what she became.

Alongside her friends Hvitserk and Ubbe, whom she had met during her time in Paris, she fought in every battle. Ever since Paris they had been inseperable. As children they were bewildered and inspired by the warriors and swore it upon themselves to become just like them one day. It took them years of dedication and training to live up to that promise, and now they were.

"Could you hand me another drink?" Ubbe asks, handing his horn over for Y/N to grab. Almost falling off the tree trunk as he does.

The great Heathen army had invaded England to avenge the death of Ragnar Lothbrok. This afternoon an important battle had been won and ofcourse every victory needed to be celebrated. Therefore, all Vikings were sat around campfires, eating and feasting. They told stories about the gods, sang in old norse and most of all drank a lot of ale.

"Sure you haven't had enough?" Y/N chuckled as she refilled his horn anyway. She sat around a fire in between Hvitserk and Ubbe. Ivar, Sigurd, Ynid, Arne, Kettil and Grete were seated around the fire as well.

"Never." Was his only response, before chugging the next horn down. Hvitserk, who also had gotten a tad drunk, laughed at Ubbe and slung an arm around Y/N's shoulder. "I hope we don't get attacked tonight, my poor brother couldn't even lift his sword." Hvitserk whispered in her ear, causing Y/N to smile.

Ynid, a shieldmaiden and friend of them, spoke up. "How about we play a game to kill the time?" She proposed, earning curious glances. "What kind of game?" Sigurd asked. "A game where you can choose between truthfully answering a question or accepting a challenge." She explained. The group grew enthousiastic. "What is it called?" Hvitserk asked. Ynid thought for a second before answering. "Let's call it 'truth or dare'" The young vikings agreed on the name and so they started playing.

Kettil had been dared to break a shield, using nothing but his head. He did not succeed, but probably did gain a concussion.
Grete had admitted she liked the blacksmith's son after choosing truth.
Ynid had won a sword fight from Sigurd.
Ivar had tattooed runes on Kettil's shoulder after Arne dared him to. And a few rounds later Ubbe had cut off a piece of hair from a sleeping Viking. It was now his turn.

Ubbe's eyes scanned around the fire and they landed on Y/N and Hvitserk. Y/N avoided his gaze, not trusing her friend for one bit. But to no avail. A big grin appeared on Ubbe's lips as his eyes locked with Y/N's. She already knew what he was thinking.

A few moons ago Ubbe had tried to convince Y/N that Hvitserk was in love with her. Hvitserk would've supposedly told his brothers but Y/N didn't know whether to believe it. She did not notice any changes in his behaviour and he had many of chances to tell her if it were true. Like now, he did sometimes put an arm around her or give her a hug. But it was not enough for her to believe Ubbe.
