CHAPTER 7▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
A GLANCE OF CERTITUDE!
*:・゚✧In the wake of The Child arousing from his sleep, the creature has stumbled out of his pod and toward a silent Gaia who's currently lost in thought. He halts beside her boots, peering up at her with a trying gurgle which effectively catches her attention. She begins to frown as she glances down at him. The Child steps closer then, gripping her tattered footwear prior to extending his tiny arms forward as if asking to be held. The gesture is bizarre to her. "No." Gaia shakes her head.
The Child persists and coos, however, she's quite adamant in spirit and simply uses her boot to have him back away. "No," she echoes, a whisper befalling her serene voice.
Mando expels a sigh, vacating overhearing Gaia talk to instead push a few buttons on the control board. Gaia's focus is straying, until it's horribly divided by a holographic transmission that is initiated rather suddenly. Greef Karga, a Guild agent, is displayed in full albeit attaining a small size while he's faced toward Mando. He begins to talk about his receivement of the bounty hunter's own transmission and of The Client being quite restless; that Greef has no particular care for what they decide to do with The Child. . .
The message is discontinued, in the end.
Mando gazes to the right, and glimpses The Child biting experimentally on a metal sphere which belongs to the control board's lever. Gaia has a tough time fighting the grin that's blooming across her lips, amazed by how he'd managed to climb the structure without any of them noticing and screwing the sphere off.
Mando is less so.
"It's not a toy." He plucks the sphere away.
The Child's elongated ears are starting to hang like a pair of wilted flowers. His posture shifts and he seems sad all of a sudden, adopting a crestfallen expression to his face. Mando simply grabs him by the scruff of his oversized garment in response and directs him toward Gaia. "Watch him and make sure he doesn't do anything he's not supposed to."
Gaia is most certainly not happy about that. "Can't you just put him in the floating pod?"
"No. I know you won't do as I say if I just put him in the pod, so I need you to hold him."
". . .Fine."
Gaia squirms uncomfortably, reaching forward only to blindly fumble with her hands and not knowing how to properly hold The Child. She tries positioning her hands in all sorts of different ways — grumbling to herself as she does so — yet she's still lost on what stance would be the most comfortable and correct one of the bunch. Mando's patience runs short: The Child is rudely shoved into her palms all of a sudden and directly against her chest without any mention or warning.
