"When and why did they become like this?"
I'll explain Romeo first.
Before they disappeared for seven years, Romeo was 6 at that time. So, he wasn't able to control his emotions after you left.
Before, he would call everyone brother or sister. After you were kicked out, he changed drastically. He didn't talk to anyone else but Wendy and the exceeds.
He pretended to look up to Natsu when he was still there and when he disappeared. When he came back, he didn't even look at him, unless it was necessary.
He made a promise to himself that he would protect you and Wendy from the others.
This is how I'm going to imagine him for the rest of the book:
• He is still going to have fire magic, but it's going to be stronger than Natsu's
• He's gonna have his guildmark on the left shoulder
• As I showed in the last update, Sting is Romeo's role model, so he's going to act a bit like him but still have his own personality
• In the anime, he has a similar outfit to Natsu, but he only wears that until the "Wendy is back!" chapter. After that, you will see him wearing different causal clothes. I'm also going to find an outfit that he will wear to go on jobs
Now, Wendy is a different case. She admired both Erza and Lucy when they brought her to Fairy Tail.
When she met you though, she felt Lucy's jealousy from the very beginning. Sometimes when Lucy would ask you to come with her, Wendy would try to come by your side to save you from being beaten up.
She would act like a sweet, innocent girl to them. After Lucy kicked you out, she became sarcastic and sassy.
How I'm going to imagine her for the rest of the book:
• She's going to be unbothered by anything that Lucy tries on her
• She's going to be stronger than Natsu in battle
• She would train with Romeo, so that the two of them would be stronger
• When she's triggered or irritated, her eyes would become darker
• Regarding her age, she didn't age when she was on Tenrou Island, like at all. She is going to be the same age when she left. So, Romeo is going to be one year older than her
• She's not going to be insecure about her looks and body, like in the anime
• She is going to have magic items that correspond with her magic
• While she is on jobs with team Natsu, she's going to be independent while the other girls are somewhat dependent on the boys
• She has the manners that Carla taught her, but Carla lets her diss Lucy
• She will have different fashion sense when you guys see her in the GMG
That's all I'm going to explain! I'm going to explain some more things as the story progresses.
