Luna's POV

Life goes on, no matter what. I was in the room with Ashton when he died. The doctors brought him into the room next to mine, room D67, and literally threw him on the hospital bed, knowing that there was no way to save him. You see, this hospital was an asylum back then and they brought him here only because he got into a motorcycle accident around the corner. He died a few hours after they brought him in. He lost so much blood, and broke almost every bone in his body.

"I still remember waking up, and seeing you standing over me. I can't believe it's been so many years." Today is the 28th anniversary of Ashton's death. We sat side by side, on the roof of the hospital.

"Life goes on, Ashton. With or without us, life goes on." I dangled my bare feet over the side of the building, enjoying the view. You could see the entire city from up here. The view was breathtaking...well it would be, if I could breathe. Ashton stared down at his combat boots, and kicked my leg with his.

"What was that for?" I elbowed him in the ribs, making him laugh.

"That would hurt, you know, if I could feel pain," He joked. "I just...thank you for being there, when I died. I would have been all alone if it wasn't for you. It's been twenty eight years, and you're still here with me." His adorable dimples appeared on his cheeks. I linked arms with him, and rested my head on his shoulder. I never told Ashton this, but when he died, he wasn't alone...there was someone else there, a woman. She held his hand as he took his last breaths, but disappeared as soon as his heart stopped. She was with him when he got into the accident as well. She was always there. I was sitting in this exact spot when he crashed his motorcycle into a semi. The woman held his hand as he laid on the street, bloody and still. The woman looked up at me, which took me by surprise, but I then realized that she was dead too.

"I was alone when I died, and I didn't want you to have to go through the transition from life to death all by yourself."

Ashton nodded, but didn't say anything. We stared off into the distance as the sky turned into an orangey red color.

"What was the city like when you were alive?" He asked. I put my head up, and stared into his lovely hazel eyes.

"Smaller, that's for sure, and there certainly wasn't any motorcycles." I laughed. Ashton put an arm around me, then suddenly disappeared. Confused, I looked around, wondering where he could be.

"Well look who's here." Ashton suddenly reappeared, and pointed to a familar blonde haired breather, climbing over the front gate. "Up here, Lukey boy!" Ashton yelled. Luke waved up at us, and motioned for us to come down, with his hand. Ashton took my hand in his, and we jumped. As Luke walked towards us, Ashton whispered in my ear. "Remember what the thing in the basement said, the gifted breather is dangerous to us. We have to scare him off."

"Ashton, I'm not scaring him away." I rolled my eyes at him, and smiled at Luke. "Hey Luke."

"Hey Luna, hey Boob." Luke mocked. Ashton grinned, then elbowed me so that I wouldn't forget what he said about Luke being dangerous. I stared at the blue-eyed, blonde, lip ring wearing boy, and wondered what about him could be so dangerous. "Do you guys always hang out on the roof?" Luke asked. I nodded, and started to walk back into the hospital. Ashton disappeared, and reappeared back to the roof. Luke walked beside me, and we trugged up the spiral staircase, to the roof.

"It's our favorite place to spend our eternity. We come out here in the evening, to watch the sun fade behind the mountains, and at dawn, we watch the sun rise, and fill the town with warmth that we cannot feel."

Luke stopped at the last step, and turned to me.

"When's the last time you've gone into town? A lot has changed since the 20's, you know."
