Victor decided to bring Lorraine to McDonald's in an attempt to cheer her up. He knows that food is the only thing that can make her happy besides watching funny videos on youtube.
"I'll order, you find seats." He winked at her as he flashed his million-dollar smile. "I bet you're hungry."
Lorraine forced a small smile and nodded. "But how will you find me?" She asked as she sassily raised his brow at him. "It's pretty crowded here though." She let out a chuckle, her eyes fixated on the crowd.
A playful grin crept on his face as he thought of a silly idea. "Remember junior prom?" He asked mischievously.
Lorraine's face lit up as she remembered an embarrassing memory of one of their playful games. "Oh, don't you dare, mister." She said between giggles, making Victor wheeze.
"Oh, I dare, miss." He winked at her and opened his mouth to say something but he was interrupted by the cashier yelling: "Next customer, please."
Lorraine patted his back and turned her heel on him to find a seat for them while Victor started to order their usual order, Chicken fillet with fries and milk tea.
She scanned the first floor and found no vacant table. "Well, this is gonna be embarrassing." She muttered under her breath as she realized how chaotic everything will be if they started the game. She proceeded to the second floor and found one vacant table on the corner. "Jackpot." She muttered under her breath with a smile plastered on her face as she walked towards the vacant table.
On the other hand, Victor carefully lifted the tray and stepped outside the queue, looking around for Lorraine. "This is going to be embarrassing but fun." He thought to himself as he cleared his throat and inhaled deeply. "Marco!" He yelled, making almost everyone around him look at him curiously while the others gave him dirty looks. "This is insanely awkward than I thought it would be." He thought to himself as he smiled at them awkwardly.
"Polo!" Lorraine yelled, loud enough to reach Victor. He breathed a sigh of relief as he made his way towards the second floor, right before any angry customer approached him. "Saved by the bell." He thought to himself as he saw Lorraine grinning at him.
He carefully placed the tray on top of the table and groaned. "Say it." He playfully rolled his eyes at her, making her giggle.
"What should I say?" She asked between giggles. "I don't have anything in mind yet." She teased.
He let out a chuckle as he gave her the food. "I know you want to say 'I told you so, Victor.' " He mimicked her voice and playfully rolled his eyes, making Lorraine burst out laughing. "That was so embarrassing! I can remember it was fun when we were seniors." He chuckled, making her laugh even more.
"I'm sorry." She managed to say between laughs, her hands hugging her belly. "Oh, I can't stop." She bit her lip in an attempt to control her laugh, making him smile.
"Let's pretend that did not happen and eat." He lifted his plastic utensils and began to eat while Lorraine continued to control her laughter.
As Victor began to finish his food, He noticed that Lorraine is still bothered and kept on spacing out, her food remained untouched.
Victor's
I stared at Lorraine curiously, wondering why she's being quiet for too long. She won't laugh at my jokes and she forces her smile. "Something is bugging her." I thought to myself.
I let out a deep sigh as I put down my utensils and reached for her hand. "Okay bitch, what's wrong with you?" I worriedly asked her as I squeezed her hand gently, catching her off guard.
She jumped a little, surprised by my touch. "I-- uh. I'm sorry." She apologized, blinking rapidly as she got back to her senses. She looked at me apologetically and sighed. " Am I bothering you now?" She asked.
I took in a deep breath and sighed. "Well-- it's kind of unsettling seeing you like this," I confessed, looking at her apologetically. "I mean, It's been an hour since we left the asylum---You said you're hungry-- and now that we're here, you won't eat what I ordered you." I reasoned out as I shifted on my seat and squeezed her hand once more. "Tell me, Raine. What's wrong?" I asked, waiting for her to open up but she remained silent. I exhaled sharply and looked at her straight in the eye. "I can't stand seeing you like this. You look like shit when you're stressed--- I mean, look at your hair!" I teased, trying my best to return the smile on her face.
Fortunately, she smiled and let out a chuckle but it did not last long. Her expression turned glum as she let out a deep sigh. "It's about Uncle Robert." She confessed.
"Oh, girl. There's nothing we can do but pray for him." I looked at her apologetically. "He is at rest with God." I squeezed her reassuringly in an attempt to cheer her up.
"I know. It's just---" She stopped for a second and sighed. "I know what they did to him. I took a peek in one of the patient's records." She lowered her head and sighed. "It states that--- they killed him by stabbing him a hundred and nine times. Face, torso, legs, everywhere." She looked at me, her eyes glistening with tears.
"Look at the file, Victor. I can barely recognize him." She softly said, trying her best to control her tears from falling. "Even if I'm a black belter, that won't be enough to remove my worries. I underestimated them and what they could do. I mean-- what if they try to kill us?" She whispered.
I squeezed her hand reassuringly and hushed her. "Don't think about that, Lorraine." I smiled at her reassuringly in an attempt to comfort and calm her. "Giovanni will make sure that won't happen again and I will protect you because I love you."
My eyes widened as I realized what I just said. "I love you as my best friend." I corrected followed by an awkward, nervous chuckle. "You're like my sister, duh." I waved my hand dismissively and playfully rolled my eyes.
Fortunately, she bought it and chuckled. "Thank you, V." She smiled at me and breathed a sigh of relief. "Honestly, that made me feel better." She took her hand back and grabbed the utensils. "Let's eat! I'm starving." She smiled at me and started to eat.
I playfully rolled my eyes. "I've been eating for the past 30 minutes, I already finished mine." He joked, making Lorraine chuckle.
As he watched her eat, he can't help but think about what she said. He knows that he should probably not overthink and be optimistic instead, but something inside of him stops him. A part of him thinks that she's right and he must be prepared in case all hell broke loose.
"You're not entirely wrong, Raine." He thought to himself as awful but possible thoughts and scenarios began to bother him. "Those patients, they're too dangerous. I should keep an eye on you, Raine." Lorraine lifted her head and smiled at him. "I will do anything to protect you, Love." He returned her smile with a wide, warm smile.
