Giovanni took the last sip of his drink before he placed the glass away from him and pulled Kelly's file from one of the drawers, hoping to find her husband's number to alert him with her behavior.
He skimmed through her file and successfully found Mr. Alex Herring's phone number. He began to mutter his number under his breath and dialed it on his phone, waiting for his answer.
Mr. Herring's phone began to ring during an important meeting, making him inhale sharply through his nose and fake a bright smile at his clients. "I'm sorry for the sudden disturbance. Please, excuse me." He looked at his clients apologetically as he walked outside the conference room and held his phone against his ear, his eyes narrowed in anger.
"Who the fuck are you and what the fuck do you want?" He angrily asked through gritted teeth and clenched his fists to maintain his calm.
Giovanni's eyes widened in surprise as he let out a chuckle. "Good evening to you, too, Mr. Herring." He greeted sarcastically as he smiled to himself.
Alex Herring froze in shock and began to stammer. "I-uh... Mr. Vurmingham! I'm very sorry-- It's just that I'm in the middle of an important meeting and I---"
"Yes, I understand. Pardon me, but I insist that you listen to me even for a second." Giovanni cut him off and let out a sigh as he failed to search for the right, unoffensive words to say to him. "Your wife tried to poison one of my doctors but ended up poisoning the wrong person and I hate to break it to you but she's..."
"She's what?" Alex furrowed his brows in curiosity as he waited patiently for his answer. He saw his secretary approach him in his peripheral vision and turned around to face her. "Just wait." He mouthed as he lifted a finger at her as a sign not to bother him.
"I'm afraid her heart doesn't belong to you anymore, Mr. Herring," Giovanni said, making Alex scoff.
"I'm sorry, what? That's absurd!" Alex defended. "What makes you say that, Mr. Vurmingham?" He gritted his teeth and narrowed his eyes in anger.
"She told me... I'm sorry, but she also tried to kiss me." Giovanni confessed.
Alex Herring remained silent for a minute as he processed everything Giovanni said, his eyes wide and mouth agape. "Well-- uh. I'm glad that you did not dare to sugarcoat any information... I cannot say that I did not see that coming." Alex confessed as he breathed a sigh of dismay and shook his head disappointingly.
"I'll be more than willing to pay you a visit myself and show you the evidence--"
"A visit won't be necessary, doctor. Just deliver what you must to our house and I'll read or examine them myself." He absentmindedly responded as he took a deep breath and closed his eyes tightly. "Thank you... Goodbye." Alex quickly ended the call with shaking hands as he began to feel weak, his eyes glistening with tears. He took a deep breath and gulped thickly. "God." He exhaled deeply and buried his face on his hands as he tried to conceal the pain he's currently feeling. He felt cheated and betrayed, but most importantly, he felt like he was used.
His grip on his phone began to tighten to the point that it nearly broke before he could even set foot inside the conference room. "Please... I have to- I have to go, this instant. I'm sorry, but I must." He reached for his things and stormed outside the conference room without even paying attention to his conversing clients.
In his mind, the only thing he should pay attention to is his bruised ego and his shattered heart.
Giovanni let out a long, heavy sigh as he leaned on his chair and stretched his worn-out arms and rotated his numb feet. "Thank God, I'm done." He breathed a sigh of relief as he closed his eyes, letting them rest for a minute after spending an hour talking with his business partners about their future projects and arranging paperwork regarding Kelly Herring's unemployment.
