"I want you to drop the charges you filed against my brother." Jennie said straight to the point, there's no use beating around the bush especially this woman had wasted a lot of her time these past days.

Lisa became quite. She was used to this kind of direct to the point straightforward manner from her male employees and executives. But from a woman? Never. And by the look on her face, she knew this woman wouldn't think twice onto something she wanted to happen.

"Are you kidding me? You're brother, Kim Jongin, is the reason why my brother and nephew died! How on earth did you had the courage to ask me that?"

Jennie shuts her eyes closed for a moment she took a deep breath to calm herself, and when she opened her eyes again, the woman's cold gaze met hers. "We both know that the investigation says that the real reason is because of a brake failure. It is not my brother's fault!"

"Not his fault?" Lisa slammed her hands on the desk and she looks like a wild and dangerous animal when she faced her. "He was driving under the influence of alcohol, how can you say that to me that it wasn't his fault, huh? Do you know what it feels like to lose someone you love in that kind of accident? Do you know what I feel now that I lost my older brother?"

"Yes, I know." Jennie answered calmly. It was written all over her beautiful face how sympathizing and understanding she is towards her. "My brother and I knew what you feel because we lost both of our parents in that kind of accident too when we were still young."

That shuts her up and stared at her in surprised. A moment of silence surrounded the two of them. She knew about that since it was included in the reports of the private investigator she hired. "Whatever you said, my mind won't change. It's not that easy to forget what happened. I can't forgive him for what he did, he's a useless--"

"He's dying!" Jennie couldn't stop herself but to tell her what is her brother's current condition. She wanted to cry so bad. She did not let go of the tears she's been trying so hard to keep in when the doctor told her about Jongin's health condition when she came back in Korea from Paris. "Can't you see? If you had him investigated--which I know you did--you would know that!"

Lisa lost her words. "No, I didn't know that." She said afterwards. "Medical records are confidential and I didn't require the investigator to get some information about it."

"Well, now you know so drop the charges you filed against him." she almost beg her while trying to control the tears which are about to fall any minute now. "He has a terminal disease, he won't live long. Let him die in peace!"

Silence surrounded the room once again. No one dared to talk, it was like that for a while before she felt her standing up and walked going behind her. She didn't looked back and silently pray for a miracle.

Lisa felt a stabbed in her heart when she heard Jennie begging her to let her brother go. She must've really love her brother so much. If she was in Jongin's condition, would somebody do this for her? Would somebody beg for her like this? She can't stop the envious feeling going inside her heart.

When finally, she decided to break the silence. "It isn't that simple. He killed my brother and my only nephew." She said.

"But it was an accident!" Jennie argued back. "Can't you get that into your thick skull? Or is it just that you are so cold and heartless to realize that putting a dying man behind bars won't work?"

It was as if she was slapped in the face. Never in her entire life that somebody called her that--cold and heartless--even the women she had dated before.  She suddenly remembered her late father and how cold he is towards her and her older brother. She didn't want to be like that man!

"If ever I decided to drop the charges against your brother.." she suddenly said. "...are you willing to do something in exchange of that?"

Jennie turn around and faced her. "Anything! Even if I have to be your slave, I will do it,  just don't make it any more harder for my brother."

"How about your life? Are you willing to bet it?" she challenged. "Can you exchange yourself for him?"

The determination in her eyes didn't change. "I said I'll do anything and I mean every word that I said."

She frowned while staring at her. "Jongin does not worth the sacrifice coming from you. You're too good for him."

She felt as if her heart stop beating. How dare she! Was she just playing games with her? She stood up straight and wiped her tears angrily before facing her.

"Is that a no? Then it only means that I'm just wasting my time here. You know what, they told me that you are a heartless person, but I didn't believe them. I thought they were just kidding because for me, you don't look like a bad person. But I was wrong. I hope you are happy with your decision. Goodbye, Ms. Manoban."

Lisa watched as Jennie turns and started to walk away from her. At that very moment she knew that she cannot let this woman walks away from her. She is the one she had been waiting for to come into her life. She had to think fast and do something.
