The day of the civil wedding of Jennie and Lisa came. Both arrived to the civil registrar building and saw that Jongin was already waiting for them inside, sitting on his wheelchair while looking outside the window.
Jennie was wearing a cream dress, it was simple but elegant and it's just right for the occasion. She stayed with her brother on the corridor while waiting for her name to be called inside the office of the judge who will perform her marriage ceremony with Lisa.
It was really hard for her not to show any signs of hesitation even though she was so nervous. She knew that it would make her brother worry about her. She could sense that he was doubting her decision in marrying Lisa Manoban. Looks like he didn't believe the story she told him about how she fell inlove with Lisa the first time she saw her.
"Jennieyah." Jongin whispered in a hoarse voice. "You don't have to do this."
She just gave him a sweet smile. "Oppa, what are you saying? I want this marriage! I know I like Lisa."
"But do you love her?" he ask in a serious manner while looking straight into her eyes. His eyes were looking at her like it was reading right through her soul.
Walking towards him, she bent down as he was sitting on a wheelchair to give him a tight hug and planted a kiss on his cheek. "What are you worrying about? Do you not want to see me happy?" she pouted when she let go to face him.
"I do want to see you happy." he said then frowned. He took a hold of her hand and squeeze it. "If you're only doing this to save me--"
"I'm doing no such thing." she lied even though she wanted to break down and cry as she was starting to feel anxiety while worrying about how Lisa will own her any minute from now. "I'm doing this because I know that Lisa can make me happy, Oppa."
Jongin swallowed hard as tears were starting to form on the corner of this eyes and looked around the hall avoiding her. The look of doubt and sadness was very evident on his pale face as Jennie stared at him. Once again, she felt the need to hug him so tight, looking for a comfort. All these years, since their parents died, it was only the two of them together. No one to look after them and no one to support them. He did everything for her. Jennie swore to herself, whatever happens, she will do everything that she can with every challenges Lisa will throw her way. She won't back down, she won't let her fear get to her.
"I just want you to be happy, Jennie." he whispered in a hoarse voice with his arms wrapped around her body.
She almost broke into tears. "I know, Oppa, I know."
"When you have problems, don't be shy, come and visit me, okay?" he continued, still not letting his little sister go instead he hugged her more tightly like he didn't want to let her go. "Even if I'm in this kind of state, I can still take care of you."
"I know that too, Oppa." Pulling away from their embrace, she force herself to smile. "Why don't you come with us to the reception? She--uh--Lisa... told me that she prepared dinner in her house to celebrate our wedding."
He let out a bitter laugh. "I think it would be a lot more diplomatic if I wouldn't come."
Disappointment washed over her entire being as she still want to spend more time with her brother, but it is already time for her to get married to Lisa. The door of the Judge's office burst open, from there, the woman she will marry came out.
Lisa walked towards her. "Are you ready?"
'No. If only there was another way, I wouldn't want this wedding to push through.' Jennie said to herself bitterly. "Yes." she answered calmly.
