Lisa was inside her office that morning. Feeling weak, she buried her face in her palms. She told her secretary that she was not to be disturbed and she didn't want to talk to anyone, no matter how important that person is.
She's not going to her office to work or drowned herself with all the responsibilities that she has. Since she came back from Brisbane three days ago, she didn't bother to work. Her mind was full of Jennie.
The moment she entered their house, she already felt the coldness in there. The maids didn't even want to tell her what happened when she was gone. But with the respect they had on her as their employer they decided to tell her. She learned that Jennie went out bringing luggages two days after her brother's funeral. They also told her that her wife ask them not tell her about Jongin's death since she didn't want to disturb her with her work. Since then she never came back and no matter what she does, she can't do anything about it.
Because she knew what that means. Now that Jongin is gone, Jennie will get the thing she wants the most and that is setting herself free from her.
She didn't want to go home. Every corner of that place is giving her heartaches because it's just reminding her what she just lost.
Lisa groaned from so much pain. Can she live her life like she normally does after she had experienced being with Jennie? She wanted to see her... even for just a moment... even just hearing her voice.
Her phone rang disturbing her suffering. Since there was no one else who knew her private number, only her family, she quickly answered it hoping against hope that it's Jennie on the other line.
"Hello, Jennie?"
"Hello, Lalisa. Aigoo, I wish that you were that excited when you're expecting my calls." greeted her Mother on the other line while laughing.
Lisa felt like she was a balloon that just lost it's air. "Hi, Mom. What made you call?"
"It's nice to hear your voice too, Lisa. How are you?"
God, this was not what she needed right now. "I'm fine... Just fine..."
Mrs. Manoban stayed silent for a while on the other line. "Lisa, what's the matter? Is there a problem?" she ask in a worried tone.
She release a sighed and massage her temple before answering. "None, Mom. I'm okay."
"Is that so?" she ask in doubt. "Okay, fine, if you really didn't want to tell me. How's Jennie by the way? I tried to call her on the house but no one knew where she is. I can't understand what the housemaids are trying to say." Lisa gulped and felt nervous. This was not the way she wanted her Mother to find out about everything. "I called her phone but it's out of coverage. I guess she's busy."
She couldn't utter a word and just took a deep breath.
"Did something happen?"
"There is none, Mom." She tried to stay calm. "Is there something you want to say to her that's why you're looking for her? If there is, just say it now and I'll tell her later."
She can almost see from her mind the frown on her mother's face. "I just want to tell her that I already sent the jewelries I promised to give to her. I don't want to hear her saying that we're being selfish towards her, or else she might leave you."
Lisa wanted to laugh bitterly but she control herself. If her Mother only knew... "Okay I understand, Mom. I'll tell her."
"Lisa?"
"I'm sorry, Mom, I've lot of things to do. Can we continue this conversation later?"
"You've never used that excuse with me, Lalisa." the old woman said in cold tone.
"It's not an excuse." She said. "I swear, I'm just really busy today."
"Hmph!" she exclaimed not buying what she said. "Lalisa, I just wanted to remind you that Jennie is the most beautiful thing that ever happened to you. It's hard to find someone like her. Pretty, smart... and you love her very much."
She couldn't utter any words because she was drowning from her misery. She wanted to shout that she knows but couldn't do anything. She wanted to say that they were thinking of the same thing but she couldn't say it.
"I can see that she was still confused with her feelings for you, Lisa, and I can't blame her because everything happened so fast. But I'm sure, she loves you too. Don't you ever doubt that." Kannika said seriously. "If you two have problems make sure you resolved it instantly, Lisa. This is for your happiness, for the both of you."
Lisa couldn't manage to answer until her Mother hung up. Jennie loves her? Sometimes she didn't even know if she can see her. The only way she knows to make her feel how much she mean to her is when she's making love with her at night.
Her Mother is right, everything happens so fast for Jennie. She swore that when she saw her again, she will be calm. But she will make sure that her wife would still end up to be with her.
She took a small box from one of the drawers on her mahogany desk. She was about to open it when for the second time around her phone rang again.
Thinking it was her Mother on the other line she answered in an exasperated tone. "Hello, Mom? Didn't I tell you that I'm--"
"Lisa...?"
Lisa felt her heart beats wildly and tightens her grip on the phone. She can never forget that voice in her entire life. She unconsciously slipped the box inside her jeans pocket.
"Lisa? Are you still there?"
Feeling like there was lump in her throat, she swallowed hard before answering but her voice is shaking while whispering her name. "Jennie...?"
Her wife didn't anwer quickly on the other line like she was thinking twice whether she will respond or not. "Yes, it's me."
She felt her body shook. "Jennie-yah! Where are you? Please tell me! God, we need to talk. I miss you so much!" She didn't respond making her feel scared that she already hunged up. "Jennie-yah? Jennie!"
"I'm here... in my parents house."
"O-Okay, don't go anywhere, alright?" She was gripping on her phone tightly like she didn't want to put it down and continue talking to her wife. She was already running out of her private office. "Please, Jennie, wait for me, okay? Just please!" She beg nervously.
Once again it took her longer before responding. "Okay... I'll wait for you here. I've something to tell you too."
