Nadia silently stood by the kitchen doorway. She was planning to get herself a glass of juice when she heard the helpers talking.
"Anong ibig mong sabihin?"
Eh dun, wala...mainit..."
"Hmm...baka nga kasi hindi sila sanay..."
"Baka nga..."
Nadia cleared her throat before entering the kitchen. The two helpers who had been talking moved away from each other and resumed whatever chore they were doing.
"Ah, Yaya, hindi ako magl-lunch dito mamaya..."
"Okay po, Ma'am..."
"Si Sep?"
"Nasa simbahan pa po. Uuwi daw sya ng tanghali..."
"Ah sige..." Nadia said and left the kitchen.
---
At around noon, Sep's distinct laughter could be heard around the kitchen table. Nadia peeped through the window next to the door that lead to the outside kitchen.
