9. dalawang nanay

Sep woke up and realised that he could 'see'. The objects around him were very blurry but he could determine their colors and outlines. He was alone in the room so he could not really tell anyone about this 'development'.

Being off the ventilator just before he awakened from his coma, more and more machines and equipment were removed. The family was just really waiting for final clearances so that Sep could go home and continue recuperating with the care of his family.

Thinking that he could manage himself like he used to, Sep carefully got up from bed and sat on the edge before standing up. He felt a little woozy because he had been lying down for some time. Gaining some balance and securely feeling the solid floor underneath him, he carefully shuffled to the toilet, pushing his IV pole along.

Unfortunately, his blurry vision could not help him determine depth and detailed obstructions in his path. His IV pole hit the foot stool used by Nanay Straw. The force of the bump of the pole on the stool made the stool slightly move by Sep's path. He tripped on the stool and came crashing to the floor. Sep fell on his shoulder, causing his head to slightly bounce on the floor. He had managed to scream, "AAAAHHHHH!" before he blacked out.

"...salamat sa lahat ng tulong mo sa amin..." Nanay Straw said. She was with Lola Char and Naynay Nadia as they walked toward Sep's room.

"Ito na rin ang pasasalamat ko sa inyo. Kung hindi dahil sa inyo, baka tuluyan ko nang hindi makikita si Sep..." Nadia said.

"Kelan nga daw makakauwi si Apo?" Lola Char said as she paused by the door to adjust the bags in her hands.

"...ang alam ko maymga huling tests nalang sa kanya ngayong araw na ito...baka bukas o sa sunod na araw..." Nadia said.

Strawberry was the first to enter the room. Following close behind was Nadia, who noticed the empty bed.

"Sep?" Nadia said as she approached the bed after putting her things on the couch beside the bed.

"Apo, dinalhan kita ng paborito mong orange...pagbabalat kita ha?" Lola Char said as she entered the room and closed the door. She noticed something on the floor from the side of her eye.

Nanay Straw looked down on the floor to get the step stool she used to stand beside Sep's bed. Nadia was watching her when both 'mothers' saw their son on the floor!

"SEP!" Nadia and Strawberry rushed toward Sep. Lola Char took a step forward then remembered to call for nurse.

"Sep? Sep?" Nadia repeatedly called out.

"Sep...gising!" Strawberry panicked.

"...unghhh..." Sep groaned a few minutes later.
